He is getting paid for 2019. One of the all-time best seasons and teams in college football history.

I don't like it. But he's gone, so good enough for me

4. This contract prevents him from being employed by any SEC school as a coach in any capacity for 18 months. That means Saban (or anyone else in the SEC) can’t hire him as an analyst. That means he can’t recruit for any other SEC schools

That's not what the contract says. Section 4(c) says he cannot serve "in a head coach capacity" for a SEC school for 18 months.

So the interesting question is whether his other (new) contract will keep him employed after the end of the season, or whether he will have the flexibility (after this season) to go be an Assistant Coach or Analyst at another school.

O said in his press conference he is taking next year off. Maybe after 12 months he will want to coach again.

I also do not see a mitigation clause in the Termination Agreement (i.e., if he is paid by another school/team, do those amounts reduce what LSU must pay)? It does not appear so.

I'm torn on this. Seems like too much money to pay without fighting it. I know it's not zero sum in terms of donations but damn.

On the other hand, Scott Woodward is extremely good at politics. His experience and ties to people that run GumboPAC have paid off for him. It's kind of impressive.

His LLC is called My 3 Tiger Boyz

I mean, just this is enough to fire the guy. What self respecting 60 year old man would make THIS LLC?

There's off-the-field stuff they could at least make things difficult for O, along with potential Title IX issues.

Says who? You have to have cause, not some wishful thinking by stupid people on a forum.

This agreement specifies that he will have a whole new employment agreement tomorrow. The prior employment agreement is more or less over.

We'll find out I guess how much LSU is paying to retain him tomorrow.

That's new college sports i.e. free agency.

There will be 9-12 players that will fetch top dollar.

Washington doesn't miss him, and TAM fans are just waiting for 1-2 more losses to get back on the get rid of Fisher train.

If so it must not come close to reaching “For Cause” unless you’re stupid enough to think LSU would pay $17M if they didn’t have to.

No. LSU itself would be liable if there were T9 issues that weren’t reported. Very foolish to use that as leverage.

Wait wait wait

A few weeks ago, You claimed O would go to Alabama and recruit against LSU.

Now, you’re claiming he’s gonna get his $17mm buyout, plus more?

I believe I always said he was going to get his buyout. (I said if he didn't... chances are he packages players up)

As far as Bama, LSU's plan is rehire the guy they fired. Who would have thought a school could seriously be this fricked up.

Why do you think LSU is paying him and potentially paying him more? Its free agency bro, just like I said.

If they don't retain Ed, he can package players up... its not a theory. The new transfer rules make this simple easy.

This only stops Ed from signing and dealing, I still expect a good portion of the top players to skip town... heck, they already stopped playing.

You guys haven't been keeping up with how modern college sports works, the new rules or lack of rules make this one big free agency... all the time.
