Seems to me that fans are insecure about whether LSU is a stepping stone or a destination job.
Ridiculous. Based on the data in the OP, virtually every top program is a destination job. Coaches don’t willingly leave them.

LSU is definitely not a "stepping stone" job. Its always possible someone could leave for the NFL or under special circumstances another college (their alma mater or something) buts that's not really a stepping stone

Coaches use jobs as stepping stones. Saban was never going to stay at Michigan State. He had higher aspirations and the market demanded that he leave when he was offered more money to come to LSU and coach on a higher level.
Also, don’t forget the agent’s impact in all of this. Jimmy sexton and Trace Armstrong have tons of control over things as they continually shake the bushes to get their clients ( and themselves) more money.
They need to earn their keep so they need to either get the coach more money in the job they got or get it somewhere else.
LSU has continually stepped up to the plate to pay their HC when the time came. They’ve just never had to agree to pay highest salary as some coaches would demand in their contract.
That could change in our next deal
