Craig Ferguson is the one and only actual honest to goodness late night host we actually want but don't deserve as a country.

Miss Ferguson as a late night host. I’ll be honest, he was the best Late Night host in my lifetime. His show was leagues better than anything on right now, and his monologue style was pure brilliance

I loved his interview style. He didn't bother following the normal talking points that most hosts go with, and even signified that by ripping up with que cards before every interview. Dude is a natural when it comes to talking to people.

Well said. And true.
His shows with Billy Connolly are classics.

Ferguson should have gotten a one-hour, once a week sit down talk show on HBO or some other network where he could say anything he wanted and have on whomever he wanted.
When he did interviews about real subjects and talked to people he ea genuinely interested in, he was pretty much beyond reproach from any other late night host in decades. He was a phenomenal interviewer and is extremely well read, intelligent and has a vast array of life experiences to pull from to interject his own views on a variety of matters.
He would also have been great as a Larry King replacement, but CNN is such a different network now than what it was 10 yrs ago, plus I don't think Craig liked politics and politicians very much, and especially political opinion shows where everyone was awful to each other and yelled and lectured. so it wouldn't have worked. But, he definetly has an old time interviewer vibe to him, kind of similar to Tom Snyder or Dick Cavett, but he was and is much more likeable and funny and quick witted.
It's a shame he hosts game shows and only does some stand up now. He could be used so much better, but I think he's happy and the workload isn't huge for what he's doing now. I think he's about 60 or older and has made enty of money. Plus, I think his wife is from a pretty wealthy family.
I taped or watched live almost Late Late Show for probably 5 years, and now I haven't watched a late night talk show in so long, I can barely even remember what it's like.

Fk,
I agree & in fact I’ve got him as the best interviewer in late night history.
He could talk to anyone & make it interesting.

He was definitely the only host I've seen come close to Johnny Carson as far as chatting with guests and not making it seem contrived in any way. Really did like him a lot. Conan was a pretty close second, actually.

I actually watch "The Hustler" from time to time just because of Ferguson.

Amen. A logical successor to Dennis Miller in that vein. Would have been amazing.

Go search youtube for Craig and ANY hot/famous actress you like. Dude is absolutely the best ever at making conversation with them. Even Carson wasn't this charismatic and talented at having people eating out of his hand, but especially actresses.
