How would this offense be under Russ Calloway?

I was in favor of hiring him as offensive coordinator. I know he came from a small school but he was young and knew how to make play calls. He already knew the players and what they could do. He said that coach O promised him the job and that’s fricked up how he did him dirty like that.

You could have Bill Walsh, Art Biles, Kliff Kingsbury all CoOC and if the Oline is a complete shitshow, then it doesn’t matter. Max Johnson is actually doing an incredible job. One of the worst lines in the league if not the country and no running game at all, and still moves the chains

he really promised him the job? when did calloway say this?

Shea Dixon just said it on 247. He said he told the people in the industry how coach O promised him the job and he lied to him.

Yes the OL is shite. But a more experienced OC that could actually gets calls in timely enough to go more tempo would be an improvement and help move the chains more. There's no excuse for that, regardless of how bad the OL is. The jury is still out on Max.

Russ also had a great relationship with Max

I thought Russ was the guy in waiting and he is known to be an up and coming play caller. But O got infatuated with the Brady recommendation. Russ Calloway should have been transitioned in. He also had done the job in his career path before coming to LSU. But O went with the no experience guy.

I thought it was fricked up when Calloway didn't get it. I would have understood if O got like a proven OC with an SEC track record, etc.; but if you were going to hire someone like Peetz with no f'ing experience, Calloway got fricked and deserved the job

Coach O can’t make his own decisions is poo poo. He needs to learn how to do his own research on candidates and hire guys on his own instead of calling Joe Brady and Pete Carol on who to hire. He needs to let 2019 go because it’s never coming back. He had the right guy on staff to take over the offense and he blew it.

Damn. Where did he end up?

He is on the New York Giants staff

I actually believe this because I know a High School head coach that Orgeron promised the OC position to prior to Canada.

Are you able to say the name of the school?

I’m pretty sure he’s dead

Who?
Why would he hire a high school coach as his first oc?

Not to be that guy, but I can’t name a name because he is still a prominent high school coach and I don’t think he has ever told that story publicly.
The idea of it was absurd to me at the time and I didn’t fully believe it even though it came directly from the coach. When reading this thread it occurred to me that O has probably promised the position to several people over the years. Most likely in attempts to curry favor or get what he needed out of those people. But that is just speculation on my part.

O has no idea what to do. He is an interim coach only. Maybe when he gets his next opportunity he will have learned from all of these jobs and pull it all together. He will have to do a stint at Tides of St. Nick Recovery before he gets the Miami job.

I have little problem with Max. For a 2nd yr guy that had a short FR season, he has progressed nicely, if not perfectly. However, in spite of regularly having pressure, Max's footwork has to improve. Several times he missed open receivers because his footwork kept him from being accurate. Good job? Yes. But still can improve and had that improvement occurred last night LSU would have won.

Maybe the high school had more coaching experience than Peetz! With Peetz, we got somebody who knew Brady but NO experience from anywhere.
