Insurgency Sandstorm: Operation Warlord (Update 1.11) (12/08/2021)

Originally scheduled for a console release in 2018, I endured a three year delay for this game to be the first hardcore milsim game on consoles. Finally, it was released to Xbox X|S, Xbox One, PS4 and PS5 this Wednesday.
The base game is $40 and is well worth it. Cross play between consoles is on the way post-launch, but no word on console/PC cross play. I don't need to compete with PC nerds. Mod support is also a possibility, with the ISMC mod on PC being the gold standard for the way to play Sandstorm.
Anyway, if you guys are tired of pink cat ears and Lucky Charm tracer rounds that cost $20, give Sandstorm a try.
Also, keep an eye out for a game called World War 3. It's currently on PC in a re-released Alpha test on Steam, but the reviews and reception of the re-release are exceptional. It really looks great and offers a lot of customization--both on weapons and your character. Rumors of a console port have been going around. It is a direct competitor to Battlefield.

ASVAL with recoil grip and extended mag has been doing work for me. Really digging the MP5 as well.

The SVD is nasty at all ranges. Can be difficult to use up close but still messing around with attachments. I also LOVE that you can talk to enemies during the match.

Insurgency is a breath of fresh air, played the tutorial and a few rounds of co-op last night and I’m loving it. Took a little getting used to and I’ve only used the AK so far but this is a good game. Just need to fix the audio bugs and this will be a great game.

Anyone else have an issue of the teammate marker lagging behind the player model? I’ve blasted a few friendlies because I didn’t see the marker until too late

Yep, done that a few times. But I like how it ricochets back and kills you, good mechanic that prevents trolling.
Few little things to iron out but this game has a lot of potential.

There a bunch of issues that they are aware of and are actively working on. Some weapon skins not working, sound bugs, toggle zoom/lean bug, among others.
This game is exactly what I needed. After a loooong delay, they actually came through. Glad there’s a base of folks on here enjoying it.

One thing I didn’t see in the tutorial or any of the tip videos I’ve watched: To talk to your team you have hold down LB or L2. You can’t just talk into your mic. I had a hell of a time figuring that out, but went to change my controls and saw it.
Changing to Modern or Classic controls seems easier too. You can just hit Y to change weapons like most games instead of opening the menu, selecting the secondary you want and then finally switching.

The MK17 is love. I can hang back and hold lanes or I can go door to door room clearing.
I’m on PS5 if anyone wants to squad up sometime. I play 3-4 times a week.

I watched someone stream WW3 and it looked pretty legit.
I'll keep an eye out to see if Sandstorm becomes cross platform with console/PC. Would love to have a new game for the winter with my old COD buddies who mostly still play console.

Heads up, fam. Operation Warlord (Update 1.11) is now live for consoles. Operation Warlord brings in the P90 for Insurgents and the Kriss Vector for Security.
A new game mode called Ambush allows one player to randomly spawn as the VIP, his teammates as his protectors and the enemy team must try to down the VIP. VIP spawns in with a pistol, but can pick up downed enemies' weapons.
New map called Gap that is set in what looks like somewhere in the Middle East. It shows off a giant, opulent hotel/resort on one side with some shanties and huts outside of the resort grounds.
Supposedly, this update solves some of the crashing on consoles. It also fixes the stupid prone/stand glitch where if you wanted to prone from kneeling position, your character would stand instead of prone which exposed you instead of hiding your face.

My buddy at work is loving it. Will get it once cross play is available, as I have PS5 and he's on X Box.
