So many disappointments with 2019 recruiting class

1.) 5* RB John Emery: hasn't done much at all since he got here
2.) 5* CB Stingley: Great freshman season, not so great SO season, and now he's injured for lord knows how long
3.) 5* OL Kardell Thomas: has done 0 in 3 years, been injury ridden
4.) 4* OLB Marcel Brooks: great freshman season, lots of playing time, and then.... left? still pissed about that
5.) 4* S Maurice Hampton: lots of potential, and then.... left?
6.) 4* WR Trey Palmer: very underwhelming despite his few plays he's made on special teams and a few receiving TD's (expected way more at this point)
7.) 4* LB Donte Starks: dismissed from team
8.) 4* QB Peter Parrish: left team and had issues
9.) 4* DL Siaki Ika: left team because CEO rarely played him
10.) 4* OT Ray Parker: got in trouble consistently
11.) 4* RB Ty Davis Price: has been the only one with some plays made, but Corey Kiner has his number as a freshman
12.) 4* Devonta Lee: starting to maybe, possibly mesh now? Still not as productive as you would expect
I just listed our top 12 recruits from 2019 class, and 90% of them haven't done shite

That is the worst "what have you done?" class I have seen
Posted on 9/30/21 at 8:46 am to charminultra
Yet after that class we praised our staff for their ability to recruit quality character kids.

Development is key. The key which we do not possess

Makes you wonder what the hell goes on in the locker room. Where is the leadership? Did these players have warning flags that were disregarded due to star ranking.

That's on the coaching staff. Poor evaluation and poor development.

Last year was a covid year baw, it didn’t count.

Yeah funny enough the lowest rated guys have made the biggest impact for sure. Jay ward, cordale flott, Joe evans, Cade York, all 3 stars. Hell, Charles turner, Desmond little and soni fonua have contributed more than most of that top 12. Anthony Bradford was our lowest rated 4 star in the class and he’s at least given us snaps.

People will try to defend each situation as “not the coaches fault”. But if you lump everything together, there seems to be deeper issues going on.

It is pretty amazing how little impact that class has made into their 3rd season.
Other than Stingley I don't see any other kids on that list even being drafted at this point.
Definitely overrated.

Stingley and York, but yep absolute fail in terms of evaluation and development.

I remember last year and in prior years talking about the 2018 class being disappointing overall with a few bright standouts...
Big time hits
WR Terrace Marshall
WR Ja'Marr Chase
OL Damien Lewis
Played a good bit but not really good players thus far
OL Chasen Hines
LB Micah Baskerville
LB Damone Clark
OT Cameron Wire
WR Jaray Jenkins
Pretty much nothings or turned into nothings
DB Kelvin Joseph - transfer
DL Jarell Cherry - best known for carrying bricks around
DL Travez Moore - transfer
DL Davin Cotton - transfer
OL Badara Traore - 2 year JUCO backup
OL Dare Rosenthal - transfer
WR Kenan Jones - kicked off team?
RB Chris Curry - transfer
OL Cole Smith - transfer
DL Nelson Jenkins - transfer
DL Dominic Livingston - transfer
TE Zach Sheffer - transfer
RB Tae Provens - Kicked off team/transfer
DL Dantrieze Scott - transfer
That's nuts to look at. Of course we got Joe as a transfer, but this is the group we signed in 2018 from high school/JUCO.

If they "retroranked" every school's class from that year, we wouldn't be in the Top 100.

That atrocious 2018 and misses in 2019 is what has got us into this absolutely shitty position that we are in now. z
Nothing takes the cake on the 2018 class though. Even some of the guys that left from the 2019 class contributed in big ways during our 2019:
Apu
Mo Hampton
Marcel Brooks
2018 is has maybe 3 redeemable parts (not including Joe Burrow)
ETA: on second look, that shitty 2018 class is way better than 2019. Wow

Yeah, everyone on here knows what the problem is, even if they don't admit it.
question is, who do we get and when?

This is entirely on coaching or lack thereof. So Orgeron is a master recruiter? Does not look that way now.

quote:”When” is probably after aTm. But the final record will have to be at a certain number. Unless we lose a bad one and get embarrassed. Probably vs Auburn or Kentucky. A bad loss to Auburn at home at night ending the cigar streak would be embarrassing. But the score would matter.

Also, it’s possibly against a QB we let go to a rival. Very important game.
Unreal if Auburn gets two of our head coaches fired.
