And for me, its not just the football related bull shite.
Removing Middleton's name from the library, smearing his name, insulting his family, then refusing to give them back his personal items.
Honoring a career criminal and habitual drug user by lighting up Tiger Stadium in his school colors.
Hiring an expert in CRT to run the flagship university of Louisiana.
I have stopped all monetary donations to LSU - both to the Foundation and the TAF.
So when the covid mandate bull shite came out, it wasn't a hard decision that I'd rather be doing something else than spend all that time and money to support a school whose values are so different than my own; in fact I suspect that those who run the school most likely hate me for my values.
And its a shame too. I love LSU, but it is no longer the LSU that I fell in love with
This is well said.
It has been many years since I got my degrees from LSU and I have not lived in Louisiana for 30 years.
I am only a casual sports fan and my interest has waxed and waned over the years. The stadium policies don't affect me because I wasn't going in the first place.
The excitement of 2019 drew me in again to watch on TV, read this board, and buy merch, but I can see now that LSU is fully in the hands of the enemy. I don't want to cuck by supporting the teams when the administration is doing the kind of things that this post highlights and clearly is repulsed by the very existence of people like me. To do so would validate their evil and I don't want to be part of that.

What's the reason for making under 12 wear masks?

Sounds like we should all be thanking president Tate for throwing them a bone while not completely caving. This makes me like the guy more, and others should too.

Its not just under 12.
It's ages 5-12 so 4 year olds aren't required.
Just in case you wanted to laugh even more at it.

Exactly
To my knowledge there is no other SEC school with such requirements, and there are very few across the nation with such. The fact that, as the OP notes, LSU only half-assed tries to "enforce" it clearly states the requirements have NOTHING to do with a concern for public safety and EVERYTHING to do with political/university leaders wanting to leverage LSU football to force people to cave to their political whims. There are some, perhaps many, who love LSU football but simply don't want to participate in that political game. So they are choosing not to attend
Amen!!! I'm one of those! It is the principle of the matter.
I'm older than most here and until last year, I could count on one hand how many LSU games I had missed in the last 30 years. I refuse to let LSU play politics. They will not get a penny more from me until they stop.

I have ended my financial support as well. Why give money to an "institution" that finds people like me anathema?

Bottom line….
Vaccine Mask

Masking is the ultimate form of stupidity and sheepdom. Especially the cloth virtue mask. If you’re gonna wear one, at least wear a kn95. Making kids wear them is child abuse and not science. All about control.

Masks aren’t required except for children under 12.
This in of itself is DUMB AF and a reason to not attend.

hen that subset can go work at another school with the tighter restrictions they desire. However, reality is they CAN'T. Otherwise they would have already done so. Or at least the WON'T because of the cushiness of their job at LSU. So their threats are nothing more than empty threats that a stronger president and BOS would clearly recognize. Calling someone's bluff is a strong response to end ridiculous demands. Here's a secret. LSU has been around for 150+ years. I suspect it would continue to function even if those disgruntled employees left (which they won't)
Unfortunately, Louisiana has a governor who wants, above all, to toe the party line. A conservative Governor could step in (quietly) and dictate to the BOS how they were going to handle the situation which would give a brand new president "cover" for the decision ("sorry faculty...blame the governor"). But instead, you have a governor who wants to virtue signal with the rest of these clowns resulting in the non-sensical actions taken by the university.
As for working at another school. I don't know who can go work at another school or who can not. To assume that all Faculty and Instructors are in cushy jobs I think is an overreach. There may be some faculty who behave the way you are suggesting but I don't think it is fair to characterize all in one broad brush.
As for the Politics since you brought that into the discussion, where you as Critical of Jindal and his 8 year tenure which from my perspective starting with his 2nd term and the clear benefit of hindsight was the worst for LSU in modern History. F King was his Hire (via his controlled LSU BOS). No need to recall all the FUBARS that happened during F King's tenure as LSU President.
And I have to disagree about a Governor being to involved with running Universities. The Governor of course can make his position known but you want an Independent LSU BOS and President to make decisions. Of course, listening to all the appropriate stakeholdes, Governor, LSU supporters in the LA Senate and House, major donors, alums, students, etc.
In addition to not wanting a Governor getting involved in running a University, you also do not want a Big Money Donor imposing His or Her will on the LSU BOS and President, that can get a University into serious accreditation issues on the academic side. Note Auburn was put on SACS probation back in 2010 because of 1 Major Donor imposing his will on what the Auburn President and Auburn BOS did regarding the Athletics program.

Well based on the current attendance social distancing has been pretty easy.
That is what I have heard, but my issue was more with how the policy was being enforced, administered, etc. So after a 2 game sample and getting feedback from friends and family that went to the first 2 games, I plan on being at the Auburn game even with what is likely to be a larger crowd.

I’m an adult whose life does not revolve around a football team and have found better things to do with my time on the weekends since outgrowing wanting to drink all day and goto a football game. LSUs liberal policies and desire to align with BLM have just taken my stance to a yeah I’m not going to bother going to a couple of games this year either.

Well I know the last guy we had was among the worst, if not worst LSU President in its history, from again talking to friends of mine who work out at LSU, and are Independent Centrist or Center Right or Republican leaning voters, they have generally said he as LSU President has done nothing from their perspective that has not been very measured and trying to balance respect for individual views and campus safety.
To a person, light years better than F King who they had nothing good to say about at all.

this is right on the money.
Many people are sick and tired of our government overlords trying to force us to comply with their overreach. We've had it - and are saying no.
Yes, it's easier to meekly comply, but if the gov't knows the population can be so easily controlled out of unfounded fear, then they will feel empowered and will stretch their power even more next time (and there WILL be a next time).
Enough is enough.
I do believe that the University of South Carolina is now mandating a Mask requirement SCAR games in Columbia. They are having that surge that Louisiana had last month, but seems to have leveled off here.
