What I want to know is how a vaccine got EUA by the FDA largely because of an efficacy of preventing disease at or around a 95% clip. However, now we are seeing that efficacy is approaching closer to 50%.

The virus mutated. Have you not been watching all the news regarding the delta variant?

I'm being serious btw. I keep seeing this come up in threads.

So then come out and tell us that vaccine is about half as effective against the current and maybe future variants.

We need the truth.

ETA I expect if public health agencies would have told the public the truth from day 1 that maybe more people would have been vaccinated....maybe not....but we would be in a better place either way.

If effectiveness falls off that much after a single mutation, and there are new mutations coming out 2-3 times per year, what do you think the benefit of the vaccine will be?
