Currently have a Mathews Switchback XT bought new in 2007. I'm open to any brand, just want it to be a great hunting bow. Held a Bowtech Solution the other day and it felt good. I want one to last me several years, I'm not a guy that buys bows very often.

I favor Bowtech. I have two.

An 08 Tomkat, and a 12 Assassin.

Love both. I would steer you to look at newer, but not new bows. Alot of young guys like to keep getting the latest model, and they have to sell their current one.

Archery talk classifides has a fast paced movement of good bows.

Whatever, you have to try the Stan Extinction 2 release. Worth every penny.

Also, local shops have consignment bows. Now is a great time for that.

Compound bows are like new cars. As soon as you drive them off the showroom, you never get that sale price back. And the market is always flooded.

Good recurves, are just the opposite.

I shot a Prime Black 5 a month ago. Wish I had some play money, I’d go get it. Smooth as glass and fast. Check one out before you buy.

I got a free brand new Mission bow about a month ago, if I paid the $300 retail for that bow I would be very happy with how well it shoots especially at the price point.

I just bought a new bow after shooting my old Mathews Legend for 20 years

I shot all of the new Mathews, Bowtechs, and Hoyts

I went with the Hoyt Torrex because it just felt the best in my hand

I absolutely hated the new Mathews draw

Go to a good shop and shoot several. Whatever feels the best for you is what you should buy. They are all "better" than what was made when you got your bow.

I would highly recommend anything with the Halon cam system. You will not believe the speed you get from the effort of pull, and the shot is so quiet you'll wonder if you actually shot.

Two of the CENLA posters recently bought Elites, and those damn fine as well.
