am completely honest right now when I say I have 100x more respect for how Governor Blanco and Mayor Nagin handled the pre-storm public communications and evacuation than this whole current lot of clowns (and they will just use COVID as an excuse for not having to make any effort to offer any public services prior to the storm).

Already blaming time (not enough of a warning) and destroya is already blaming JBE.

It shouldn't get too bad in Venice, right? It is far enough east to not catch bad shite? My FIL has been renting a house somewhere in the area so he can go fishing whenever he wants and my wife can't get in touch with him so she's freaking out. I'm riding over to his house here in AL in a minute to see if he is home.

Always thought you leave the pool full and toss the loungers and pool deck furniture underwater so it doesn’t blow away

Hoping the electricity survives that big band currently passing in Covington

North of Covington (70435 Covington close to Folsom) here....I think that big band just passed and so far so good on power. Fully expect to lose it sometime this afternoon.

She teed that up in her press conference. She put the state out there as the scapegoat to cover her incompetence. That was her insurance policy.

Biggest worry in Venice is water.

It’s crazy that a cat 4, is barreling down on places less than an hour from Lafayette, and we aren’t gonna see much at all. I remember Katrina, it was a gorgeous day for Lafayette.

If you can go west, you will have plenty of lodging options if needed. I know you are hoping not to go as far as Houston but plenty of very reasonable hotels available there (in the event you need it).

Safe travels.

As the winds with #Ida have rapidly increased this morning, so have the wave heights. A bullseye CryoSat altimeter pass found ~38 ft waves just offshore of Louisiana.

A recent CryoSat altimeter pass across #HurricaneIda shows wave heights as high as 37.75 feet associated with the higher winds.
