The school announced the signing Monday of 6-foot-3 Amani Bartlett, a four-star forward from Houston Christian High School and a native of Cleveland, Texas. She is enrolled for the fall semester and can play in the 2021-22 season.
Bartlett is the nation’s No. 51-ranked prospect according to ESPN’s HoopGurlz rankings and the nation’s No. 12 forward prospect this year. She was named the No. 3 prospect in Texas this year according to Premier Basketball.

Beneficiary of the Syracuse coach getting fired but will take it

A ton of other programs could have benefited from that and considering when she came to LSU and roster she started with, this team will make a hell of a run.
I’m calling sweet 16 minimum run THIS SEASON.

I think you need that first year to instill your program and culture
2022-23 for sure though

One NCAAT win and they accomplished more than anything they have done in the last 7 years.
They got a great foundation with Pointer, Ursin and Aifuwa, with some talented young players (Ware, Hall, Gusters and now Bartlet). They will make the tournament, how well they adjust to Kim's system and capitalizing on quality wins could determine how far they go in the post season (seeding).

They are saying she is eligible to play for this season.

Guard play is the key to making a deep run and Ursin knows her system. Pointer is amazing talent and super intelligent. Gusters was in her system at Baylor last season as well. I’m not too worried about Aifuwa picking up her system because she is an established player and Kim is a great teacher. The only thing that concerns me is depth. I do believe that her guards will deliver.

Not disagreeing with you about mettle at all. Coach Gunter, Starky and Chancellor all were high integrity coaches.
I have no idea about Coach Fargas. I never saw anything where her integrity came into question. I just don’t think she could balance coaching and her personal life. One will always win out which is typically family.

To grab an immediately eligible top fifty prospect this late in the game is fantastic.

You could make a case for theft. With a salary north of $700,000 and the on-court results that included no NCAA tournament wins in her last seven years, no NCAA tournament appearances in her last three years and never finishing higher than a tie for fourth in the SEC is a crime. Of course, the lack of effort on the recruiting trail was another case of negligence against her.

A roster count in double digits accomplishes more than the previous 7 yrs

Or that our entire administration was incompetent and didn’t do what was necessary to drive to better results. The BOS, Alexander and Alleva were as culpable as Fargas. That was a management issue.

Just got confirmation of our season tickets in 219.

I assume Kim will go with a big starting frontline this season. My guess for starting lineup:
PG: Ursin
SG: Pointer
SF: Bartlett
PF: Aifuwa
C: Gusters
Ware and Hall will add good backcourt and front court depth. I hope Hall can make a full recovery from her knee surgery.

Gusters is very good although I think she needs a little more time to get into better shape. Aifuwa being here for one more years gives her that extra time before getting into that full time role. Moon is not a PG, I think Pointer is a much better distributor. The difference now is Pointer has a reliable shooter to knock down a open shot along side her.
PG: Pointer
SG: Ursin
SF: Probably Shematsi (size and versatility) but they could go small ball for more shooters on the floor.
PF: Newby/Petty/Bartlett (this seems like the most competitive spot)
C: Aifuwa with Gusters off the bench
The 3 and 4 spots are the most up for grab spots on the team. Kim in general does not start a lot of true freshmen but I anticipate Bartlett will be in the mix given her size and skills early on. Its kinda hard to predict lineups given the brand new systems they are implementing and certain kids coming back off injuries
Only 3 of the 6 kids Nikki signed last fall will be on Kim's first team, Ware, Hall and McNeil. Hall and ware have a lot of upside though.

Wow. I completely missed LSU getting Autumn Newby from Vanderbilt. Good get. Why didn’t she play at all her junior year—the COVID season? Was she injured?
Yes, Hall and Ware have an extremely high ceiling. Have to thank Fargas for recruiting them, though I have much more confidence in their development under Mulkey.
