David Ochoa, the @realsaltlake keeper who repped the #USMNT during Olympic qualifying and backed up Zack Steffen and Ethan Horvath in the Nations League in June, is requesting a change of association to Mexico, multiple sources tell @FOXSports.

Dude barley even played for RSL and finally got some mins this year

Not a big loss

Mexico won’t even call him up for the senior squad if he plays for RSL

He’s about to be stuck in the gulag

I don't get it, sure Turners performance pretty much shut him out of call ups in the near future, but does he think he'll actually get a shot with Mexico?

Most of Mexico's GKs are in their mid/late 30s. Steffen, Horvath, and Turner are all 26-27. Once guys like G. Ochoa (36) retire, it's up for grabs for Mexico.

He's only 20 and he's RSL's starter.

He was tabbed as the prodigy GK from 16 and took him this long to break into the first team in MLS

Nah we will always be deep at GK

Mexico probably won’t even look at calling him up unless he switches leagues

Good luck pushing aside Rimando as a teenager.

He's the only one in his age range actually doing anything at the professional level at this point. We're really thin at GK in that age group right now.

He was still getting national team call ups his last few years. Even made the all-star team in 2019.

Rimando had the 5th most clean sheets in the league in 2019.

Combine it with pitching a shutout in 1/3 of his games and it kind of does.

Acting like he should be able to steal the spot from a club/league legend as an 18 year old GK is just insane.

I mean, stats aside, they were never going to bench arguably their most recognizable player of all time for a teenager even if Rimando had both hands amputated.

Ochoa has the potential to be a good keeper so that kind of sucks, but I can't blame him if he thinks he has a better chance to be Mexico's starting GK within the next two cycles as opposed to the USMNT's.

I still rubs me the wrong way that he was literally celebrating a USMNT nations league title 40 days ago against Mexico.

Just shows what a first class bitch he is and even more reason we don't need or want him.
