yea as much as i love the Barbe Program and what they do, havent really killed it in college. I think guidry will, but i thought the sophomore owen galt that is committed was better at short than him this past year.

now, I think Guidry has more potential, more range and has a better bat. The thing with Guidry is the potential is almost unlimited. He has to get back in the weight room though, as the injury to the back forced him to take time off as he talked about in the interview.

Guidry is a natural leader though with an amazing head on his shoulder. He will be involved.

IMO too i think Beloso ends up as DH and has a break out year with 20+ homeruns.

I don't know that Galt took over at short because he was necessarily better. Guidry was also pitching, and had some injuries that kept him off the field for a little while. I think they just wanted the guy at short that would always be at short rather than shuffling guys around.

Guidry was the shortstop as a junior, while ULL's freshman starting shortstop from this past year played somewhere else as a senior on that Barbe team. (ULLs freshman is listed as being from Kinder or some shite, but Barbe doesn't recruit at all)

Were Braden Comeaux (Rice) and Shane Selmen (McNeese) the last successful D1 college players from Barbe? They were in the 2015 class.

Jordan twins were the year before them in 2014 class.

Comeaux was successful but not right away (which was the basis of my comments earlier, there is no guarantee Guidry will be ready right away).

Foster wasn't either. The Jordan twins and the kid that started at ULL as a freshman this year are the most immediate impact guys I can think of. And they weren't the most heralded guys coming out of Barbe.

galt took over cause of the injury, just thought he played it a little better in the limited action i saw. Think guidr has more potential

as far Kyle DeBarge moving from SS to Catcher, that was more because
1) LaRocca left to go to St Louis
2) Guidry needed to be on the field somewhere
3) Kyle is a fricking badass and unselfish as hell and kind of volunteered to take it over for the year and lock it down. Another great kid.

Another infield option to watch is Alex Perry from Pearl River CC.

I noticed Perry too, but I can't imagine us taking another 3B.

When I saw Tutko on him earlier this year, for some reason I thought he was an outfielder so I dismissed it. Because we didn't need more outfielders.

I know he hasn't played MIF and doesn't look like a shortstop answer but we're exploring all options right now.

In the game thread from the ULL game (and in my text chain with my friends), there were more than a few people asking about getting him to transfer to LSU.

Landon Ledoux from Barbe.

prolly be the 4th pitcher this year but has looked good in the summer season. Not sure how many starts he will get, but will prolly get some early, from there it will depend on how he does. Barbe has a strong class in 2025 and 2026, at least at the top. Prolly end up as spot relief and ends up JUCO or D2.

Landon Victorian will be the #1 starter no doubt. He is the #7 ranked player for 2024 on PG. Will prolly run it up to 95 next year.

Jc Vanek will be the #2 starter. Lefty who will run it up to 90 or above next year. he is a 2023

quote:

Myles(SP)

2026 kid. part of the strong freshman class. Runs it up in the low 80s as a 14u kid with pretty good spin rate. I expect him and the JD Alexander kid to be studs. As far as in the field and at the plate, he has to get much faster and stronger. Does that, he can become legit 2 way player.

the alexander kid is gonna be a stud. ALready hitting mid 80s as an 8th grader and over 90 from the OF. Exit velo is already in the low to mid 90s and at 6'2 175 as an incoming freshman, has the frame to add a lot of good weight if he dedicates himself to the weight room, especially in his lower half. He has big time D1 written all over him.

the younger Galt kid is in that class too and looks to be really good.

the 2027 class has the Jordin Griffin Kid who will be one of the top 50 13u prospects. Size holds him back but he has everything else. Crazy speed, Crazy bat speed, Strength, Arm strength, work ethic etc.

would love to see it. Would love after this year if he transfered and him and Guidry held down the middle infield for a year atleast.

We are on JD Alexander and Jordin Griffin.

I assume the 3rd starter, the one you didn't mention, is the kid that doesn't seem to have any recruiting profiles but put up damn good numbers this year as maybe a sophomore. I can't remember his name though.

I just remember looking at playoff stories and thinking "well they have Guidry, Victorian, and Vanek, but this kid keeps pitching and dominating."

yea not sure who the 3rd guy will be. I figured it ends up being a freshman or sophomore I didnt know about.
Not sure who you are talking about honestly.

Barbe will continue to have a ton of talent, but the talent is spread out some with emergence of Sam Houston and St Louis. When St Louis gets the new school with new facilities I expect even more to be there. The Freshman class at Barbe, Sam Houston, St Louis and Westlake are all stacked. Best class in years for Barbe, St Louis and Westlake.

The talent in-state is really good moving forward. The Catholic League has some really good young talent coming up, and obviously Catholic-BR is also loaded for years.

West Monroe has a ton of talent in future classes as well. 2024 and 2025 especially.

I wonder if he's related to the former fighter?
