Paid for dorms bc they told me he would have 2 in person classes. Get him to campus and they told us it would be all remote. frick Lsu

My nephew paid for the dorms, but lived in Belle Chasse last year.
My Grandson lived in his home both semesters last year doing work online. My son and his wife told him to save his money not living in the dorm until he could have campus classes!

On campus move-in day is like 2 weeks away. Anybody hearing any noises? And what do they do re: tuition/fees for those who have paid for dorm living if that happens?
They are trying like hell to avoid it. There’s a strong faculty contingent demanding a return to remote and the new President has said NO repeatedly.
The new President also bucked up against them when they demanded LSU mandate the vax. He told them that LSU will seek “alternative mitigation methods” to stop the spread instead. Methods like distancing and masks
He also would not let them reduce capacity in the classrooms.
Basically the guy wants LSU to keep on trucking
LSU held an employee forum last week where the president stated those things

This is not 100% correct. My kid was remote both semesters. Took all of his classes from his dorm room.

Last year, parents were beyond pissed, because LSU wouldn’t refund money that was paid for dorm expenses when classes transitioned to remote. Clearly, LSU is all about the money and could care less about making things right.

FWIW, there is a lot of fear in our black community concerning the vaccine. Requiring a vaccine would probably alienate a large portion of our black student population at LSU.
This is from another thread about hesitancy in our black community.

History can do that, and the history around certain events is quite well known in our black community. Let’s be honest, I would feel similarly if I were in their shoes.

WHATEVER you do, if LSU suggests you move out of the dorm, DON”T! Make them ORDER you out or they’ll charge you a lease break fee like they did two years ago when Covid first hit.

"That is not 100% true. My son's classes were all online."
It is 100% true that LSU had in person classes, whether your son took them or not. I would almost guarantee he could have found an in-person class in his degree program of he'd wanted. So many kids got one over on their parents this last year "having" to stay on campus and "having" to take online classes. It was a blast for most. They went about their social lives like normal college students, but didn't have to go to class.
