re: Advice on handling a hypochondriac?

I had a co-worker that was constantly going to Drs. and getting CAT scans every time you turn around.She was scared of getting cancer,I told her she was going to get cancer if she kept getting CAT scans.She ended up with bilateral breast cancer,extensive surgery and chemo and survived.I certainly don’t know if the numerous scans were the cause but seems suspicious to me.I was glad I wasn’t married to her.
My wife is the opposite problem,she doesn’t get mammograms and Pap smears nearly as often as she should.Worries me.Only thing she does is get colonoscopies every 5 years as there is lots of colon cancer in her family.
