Well I see your post above about going to Spokane and also having children. I'd agree there's so much else in the state the extra 6+ hours of driving roundtrip wouldn't be worth it for a day in comparison to the Cascades since that's on the way. You could do Snoqualmie Falls nice views, Franklin Falls (quick hike), stop in Leavenworth if you take highway 2, etc.
Now if you do end up going, I'd take a ferry (30 min plus a wait), the lavender farms (30 min), Lake Crescent (3-4 hrs or longer), and I've heard the hot springs would be a good day trip. There was a toddler with a diaper walking the Spruce Railroad trail so that hike is easy enough for kids and it's paved. No need to go all the way to the coast (La Push) unless you really want to, you can get nice views from the Dungeness park in Sequim as well on the way back.

Check out PNWescapes on instagram for some more ideas. The hall of mosses trail is very easy for kids and some of the beaches are easier to get to as well...Ruby beach in Washington and Cannon Beach if you're willing to drive down to Oregon are good spots. Cannon Beach would allow you to take the CRG to tri which is one of my favorite drives in the US

quote:My Sequim story. We discovered we had a flat tire while on the Kingston ferry and drove to Sequim to have the tire changed. The Les Schwab Tire Center was the best tire change place I ever went to. I even wrote a letter to the home office to compliment the service there. Also, a young local couple even changed our flat while in passage on the ferry so we could sightsee while on the ferry trip!! Just nice people up there.
The town of Sequim is pretty neat.
Also, as someone mentioned, Port Townsend would be a great day trip too. Really pretty town with good food, cool architecture and unique local shops. There like a dudgeon shopping mall too.
Cant wait to go back to PNW.

Last year we had a flat tire in Snohomish, WA and two locals stopped to help me change it! Great area for skydiving. Ultra-nice PNW people!!

What's the CRG?
Nevermind. Columbia River Gorge. I misread what you typed and was thinking Cascades instead of Oregon.
