Said directly by him yesterday on Maria Bartiromo.
Look for the GOPe to expand their willingness to work with Democrats and the deep state to put him in prison or blackmail him by threatening his children.

Him running again would be a huge mistake. Go out “on top” with the entire country believing the election was stolen from him but now he’s going to run again and they’re going to steal it again. Then his legacy will be that of losing the presidency, bitching and whining about it being stolen from him, running again and losing again. People will think he really did lose in 2020.
I would love for him to run and win again but we all know that’s not going to happen. He should stay on the sidelines and fund establishment challengers instead. I think he can be best used in that manner.

Trump is a grand bullshitter. What he says at this point doesn't matter. He loves to stir the pot and get people riled up and keep them guessing with the will he won't he. And he'll continue to do it right up to the point he announces one way or the other. My own guess is he's going to keep indirectly implying that he's going to run but he won't end up doing it.

I'd vote for him if he's a nominee
But truthfully I don't want the Trump show again. Trump's usefulness is entirely premised on his narcissism being in alignment with the needs of America. This country is in a cold war and we need someone who won't devote 75% of his energy to his personal vanity. While I don't like the concept, I don't completely rule out the reality that what we'll need in this cultural/ideological battle is a set of ideas or ambitions associated with a single person. But I can't see how Trump can be that person. MAGA on its own is not concrete enough to beat back what we're up against, and Trump shows minimal interest in understanding what drives the illiberal/anti-American left. He's great at exposing who they are, but as they're increasingly out in the open, I don't know what Trump can do for us.
Not sure what I'm looking for is Desantis, but probably the closest thing we've got.

To be fair...a lot of TDS, OMB frickers out there that would be happy if he didn't run, so this statement holds true whether he runs or not
