Martin Luther king would not agree with the current leftist in this country

For those who don’t know a ton about the history of the 60s there was 2 separate black movements at the time. You had the black panthers/black liberation army which was a violent, communist, revolutionary, black supremacist and separatist movement most notably led by Malcolm X. These people murdered 38 policeman over the course of around 2 years. They also committed robberies and many other crimes and saw themselves as allies with communist across the world including the north Vietnamese we were currently at war with. Then there was the peaceful movement of martin Luther king. He believed in non violence and reform instead of revolution. There’s a reason he said he wanted the black children and white children to play together. It seems weird to me now though, that the left has co-oped MLK as someone who they support and who they assume would support them. Now although he had plenty of flaws in his personal life the man was a believer in god and not a believer in communism. He also did not want death to America, that was the other black movement of the 60s that was actually against martin Luther king. So why is it now they wish to use him as a hero of their cause when the leftist of the day looked at him with disdain and considered him weak and an enemy to their cause?

I think he would agree with the leftists. He had socialist/Communist sympathies. I think his non-violence was based on pragmatism and he was opportunistic (that’s not meant to sound as pejorative as it does).

quote:the left does but I’m trying to understand why? Why do they care about portraying Martin Luther king as their ally or someone that would ally with them? You’d think they would hate him now the same way they hated him then
Who cares?

This is likely correct.

Yeah mlk was a womanizing, cheating Marxist.
I honestly don’t believe anything I’m told about any “mainstream” historical recanting of black historical figures anymore. Why would they all of a sudden start lying now?
In 40 years George Floyd will be considered the current eras MLK.

Those are the people that called the Vietcong their brothers in arms. If he’d wanted to side with those people they were around back in the day

I think you’re underplaying his Communist sympathies.

I don’t think a president who told striking unions to go frick themselves and told university chancellors they’re enabling petulant children would be considered a “rino”.
Bill Clinton however would definitely be a racist bigot by today’s leftist standards.

Good messsge. I go back and forth with King. Maybe he was a true born again believer with flaws. He did however have Stanley Levinson a true Marxist advising him. Who knows.

His handlers would have turned him into a Al Sharpton type "activist".

Believe me, he would’ve “evolved." Of course, evolving would mean millions of more dollars into his pocket.

And pedo joe has MANY documented racist comments. But the media ignores them.

You’re wrong. He preached black rights exclusive of any other minority...and he did not preach the Gospel.

What gives you pause to believe MLK wouldn’t have shifted left like most of the other civil rights leaders?
