That’s not following TFP...

Yeah, I know, but their SLAM method is really like a fool proof system for dummies. The basic principal of TFP is that only 6 water parameters are worth measuring. If your TA, pH, and CYA are all correct, the only thing needed to kill any algae is shocking with free chlorine.

Algaecide, phosphate remover, none of that stuff is needed. It's just high free chlorine for an extended time. Then keep it at appropriate levels thereafter.

A couple of years ago the guy that cleans my pool every other week told me to use No Mor Problems by United Chemicals. I get it on Amazon. Have never had an algae problem since. Amazon

Do NOT use this with a salt chlorine generator.

I feel like I just got it balanced and clear last week. But we’ve had so much rain that next week it may be off again.

To the question, yes, it’s been a tough season.

I get all that. I’m just wondering if it may have been caused by very excessive rain diluting the stabilizer to the point of being non-existent, then resulting in a sharp drop in the FC, allowing the algae to take hold.

We have chlorine tabs, not salt.

my inground pool is 18 by 33. I have been using a floatron for the past twenty years. buy a new copper element every year. you will not have a problem with algae ever again.put one chlorine tablet in your skimmer and drop shock in one a month. you won't regret it.
