LWCC buys Acadian Thruway Chevron station, adding to its list of recent big purchases
The Advocate
LWCC has purchased an Acadian Thruway Chevron station, giving the private workers’ compensation company control of a 7.7-acre tract between Interstate 10 and Bawell Street.
The company paid $907,000 for the half-acre property at 2313 South Acadian Thruway. The seller was the Kavanaugh & Tudor Co. of Alexandria. Kavanaugh & Tudor also owned the land at 2323 South Acadian that’s the home of Mestizo Restaurant. LWCC bought that property in January for nearly $2.2 million.
Just like the Mestizo deal, Chevron has a long-term lease on the property, so the gas station and convenience store will continue to operate as is, said Seth Irby, a spokesman for LWCC.
Buying the gas station came up when LWCC was discussing a deal for the Mestizo property with Kavanaugh & Tudor. But the company wanted more time to conduct environmental reviews and evaluate the site before agreeing to the purchase, Irby said.
The deal gives LWCC more access from Acadian Thruway to two former hotel properties it owns at the intersection. Before the Mestizo sale, there wasn’t a direct route from Acadian to the land.
I didn't really think LWCC was the kind of business that was booming. But they've bought everything between their current office building and I-10, including two hotels that they've demolished.
Good for them I guess. Wonder if they are going to develop it into some new restaurants or if they are just going to expand their office building.

I see they already bought the property Mestizo's sits on.
Maybe LWCC can get the drainage issues fixed in that little corner of the world.

Seems odd that the entire article never once says what LWCC stands for. Isn't the rule for acronyms that you spell it out the first time, then use the acronym from there forward?
Yes, it was a very easy google search, but still just seems weird to me for some reason.

The hotels they demolished were terrible and were struggling. A nicer name brand hotel with Mestizo incorporated into it would do pretty well there (Hilton, Hyatt...whatever is not already nearby). LSU game days alone would pay their bills.
But I suspect that LWCC wants to eventually put a new office building there.

Neither. It was defensive. A bunch of whores and drug dealers were taking over the motel.

In Louisiana, insurance companies and injury lawyer companies are always booming.

Interesting.
I don’t like the idea of them buying up so much land around there but that Chevron is skeevy as hell, much like the gas station at College and Corporate that the homeless people hang out at.

The same company that shelled out millions in unemployment to dead folks and prisoners. You can't make this up.
