Someone jump on me if I'm not reading all of this right, failure of JBE to sign or veto SB118 by end of day yesterday means LA is now the 21st Constitutional Carry state. SB118 was sent to his desk on 6/6.
During Session: The governor must sign or veto legislation within 10 days of transmittal, or it becomes law without his/her signature.
Post Session: Legislation transmitted with less than 10 days remaining in the session must be acted upon by the governor within 20 days of transmittal, or it becomes law without being signed.

Not exactly. If the tenth day after delivery falls outside of session, the gov has 20 days to veto.

§18. Gubernatorial Action on Bills; Sign, Failure to Sign, Veto; Veto Session
Section 18.(A) Gubernatorial Action. If the governor does not approve a bill, he may veto it. A bill, except a joint resolution, shall become law if the governor signs it or if he fails to sign or veto it within ten days after delivery to him if the legislature is in session on the tenth day after such delivery, or within twenty days after delivery if the tenth day after delivery occurs after the legislature is adjourned.

Also, the official date it was sent to the governor was June 4, 2021. So June 24, 2021 is the deadline

So if correct, two more days and it becomes law? I’d assume since it passed both house and senate with veto proof votes, his veto won’t matter. He probably doesn’t support the bill, but also wants to save the embarrassment of getting overridden, so he’ll just not sign it and let it become law without his signature.

Every state has the constitutional right to carry. It’s just that some states ignore the constitution.
the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

So now it’s 6/25, did he veto it yesterday or is it past the legal 20 days and now automatically become a law?
