Ubiquiti G4 Pro and Protect Config

So just installed first Ubiquiti camera (G4 Pro) on friend's Ubiquiti network. Got it initially adopted and configured but not in the manner I was expecting. I wasn't sure if there were some nuances that are different than most. So I ask for any inputs based on the situation.
Current:
G4 plugged into Switch and "LAN" port profile assigned. Able to adopt in Protect and it's working/configured
Preferred:
Want G4 added to IoT network with option of static IP if possible like any other devices. Does this need to be done via the Camera GUI instead of Switch Port Profile and Device settings in Network?
I am an hour away from the device so wanted to avoid any setting changes that may require touch maintenance on it.
