I think Slo Joe is more in line with Jimmy's brother, Billie.
Nah, Brother Billy actually had a sense of humor, and a self effacing one at that. I'll never forget that time Momar Gadaffie, thinking he actually had influence in the administration, sent someone to offer brother Billy $500,000 if he would fly to Libya and party with 'im a few days. Hell, Billy said "hell yea, I'll take a little of that!" Hamilton Jordan had to go down to Plains and put the kibosh of that, but it just showed that Billy Carter was real people in all the good ways. The man didn't have a treacherous bone in his body. I doubt it crossed his mind that Momar was trying to bribe him. Probably thought he just wanted to show him a good time.

I think Carter was genuinely a good guy, but he lacked the leadership qualities required for the Presidency. Whether he selected or the Democratic establishment selected his cabinet and advisors, none did him any favors on policy making or leadership roles.

Yes, he was heavily involved in charity later in life and that's admirable. He was also a complete dick to people while in office and two-faced, per a ton of accounts of people who were on his detail, worked in the WH, etc. Plenty of books and writings about his time in the WH and what a douche he was to people.

Based on books by former Secret Service agents Carter was second only to LBJ in abusive treatment of the agents. Even long after he left the WH getting assigned to Carter’s protective detail was considered a punishment by the agents. That being said, Carter was far more intelligent than Biden even before Biden went into mental decline, but his policies were just as devastating to the country.

Carter had good intentions, but wasn't a great leader. Biden is worse.

I knew folks who had worked with Carter in Georgia; they had nothing bad to say about him because they thought he had done a good job for that state.

I don't think anyone, back then, ever had a I can't believe he said/did that. (well, until asking Amy about armaments and the rabbit in the lake). But you never saw Carter wandering around a stage, forgetting what job he was running for, calling the RAF the RFA, etc.

The "I can't believe he's president" never applied to Carter.

Much worse than Carter. Carter had his problems, but his mind worked and compared to the current administration, he was a conservative. This administration is much worse and these times are much worse, and not likely to get better any time soon.
