You genuinely have white people who will talk about how this is a crime emergency and then rant about how the lack of a national minimum wage or capitalism are the culprits. They will straight-faced scream about crime and their fear of crime and then blame anyone but the people committing crime. They're certifiable.
They're the same white people who will tell you that they feel it's wrong to have a white mayor of a black city. And unfortunately, these are not Antifa dorks working in ink shops, they're doctors, lawyers, corporate types. It's pathetic.
I find it amusing that a house across the street from the Governor's Mansion on West Paces has large "Black Lives Matter" and "Wear a Mask" banners on the front lawn.
I googled who owned the house, and it was formerly the residence of Anne Cox Chambers (who was the wealthiest person in the state). Go figure.

I had a black APD officer tell me a few weeks ago that other than the 'spa shooter' there hasn't been a shooting by a white person in the city of Atlanta in something like 3 years He told me all the crime is exclusively black people shooting black, white, asian people. Or black people robbing, assaulting black, white, or asian people.

I live in Inman Park I hear this type of rhetoric everyday. The city has been trending white and until this happened it was basically a stone cold lock the city would be 51% white within the next 5 years. The demographic shift has been staggering.

It's also hilarious to see 100% of the flight blamed on COVID. In the last 6 months, we moved, and our neighbors followed 3 months later. We were at a birthday party for some other ITP neighbors (who bailed for Roswell last year) and there were 3 families from our old Brookwood neighborhood who've all left in the last 18 months. Some college friends of ours in Morningside listed their house this weekend, they're GTFO and moving to Reynolds Plantation full time.
I moved to Old Forth Ward in 2004. Sold my house there and moved to Inman Park in 2018. Just sold my house in Inman Park and am renting right now to figure out what to do and where to go. To put this in perspective 2004 Old Fourth Ward was safer than current Buckhead is now. It isn't really about race as some of the most productive and best years in the city were the 8 years that Kasim Reed was in office. I would also throw in Shirley Franklin's last 3 years as being extremely positive. Bottoms has destroyed all that and she clearly doesn't give a crap and has checked out already before she is out in January. I have had some neighbors leave but mostly to move out of state. Many of the Atlanta suburbs are shitholes now as well so there aren't many options unless you want to move up to Jasper, Ellijay, Blue Ridge, or Mineral Bluff. Cobb will be what Gwinnett is now in 8 to 10 years. This whole situation could have been avoided with different leadership.

Unfortunately, Reed begat Bottoms, so he can get bent. Had he stayed out of the 2017 election, Mary Norwood would've likely ended up as mayor.

I'll bet you do.
I don't think cityhood for Buckhead or any other place is the answer here. If you think Atlanta proper is bad now, just imagine what it would look like if Buckhead took their property tax money and opted out.
Frankly, I think what we need is the opposite. This will ruffle feathers, but I'd like to see some kind of metro mayor / government covering everything from Cumming down to Newnan or Peachtree City.
The Atlanta metro is wealthy. There's no benefit (outside of short-term / short-sighted NIMBY bullshite) to carving it into little ghettos.

I cringe every time I pass that damn house on the way to my office. They had a Biden banner hanging from a tree (ironic) and then filled their yard with Ossoff and Warnock signs.
Next is probably this gem:

Is it not illegal to have signs from that last senatorial election displayed? Been thinking about calling code enforcement on the ones I see in Decatur / Dekalb County.

Buckhead accounts for 47% of CoA's tax revenue. It, in return, gets less than 15% of the spending. Is that really fair?

Given the Chambers connection (she was the ambassador to Belgium under Carter and the daughter of former Dem Ohio governor and presidential candidate James Cox), my guess is that her descendants are uber-progs that want to send a message to Gov. Kemp.

I've seen those all over Buckhead, surprised it didn't show up there.

If it's private property, no.

Yes, I think it's more than fair. Buckhead benefits tremendously from the airport, Mercedes-Benz Stadium, I-285, MARTA connectivity to Downtown, etc.
Petty incorporation is the bane of big cities. There's a clear example of this, in St. Louis and probably Detroit, too.

It does, and it's never going to be solved because those in power blame the wrong people.
The reason we have those in power is for the most part you have to come to the OT to find stories like this with uncensored free speech comments about the atrocity.

Not even St. Louis and Detroit were facing the potential threat of portions of their actual city limits breaking off as it is with Atlanta and Buckhead.

Blue Ridge and Elijay are already waaaaay too infested with Atlanta fart sniffers. Slowly ruining those quiet little towns.

I have no idea where these places are. I'd rather stay in Dekalb County with guns and burglar bars.

I hear you and I have considered a move over to either Brookhaven or the unincorporated area near the N Druid Hills and Clairmont Rd corridors. I love living in the city and my area hasn't been too impacted by all this crime other than the street racers on N Highland Ave. I have a neighbor who is a baw and told me he is going to throw a brick through the windshield of one of the 'super cars' or 'muscle cars' if he gets the chance when they speed by

I've considered having a custom "In this house we believe" sign made and putting it in the yard. I'd be the talk of the Next Door app if I did

North Georgia in the Appalachian foothills. Both are great small towns with a bunch of wineries, hiking and other outdoor activities in the immediate area. Blue Ridge has several really good restaurants, specialty stores, etc.
Not everyone prefers to live in a big city and all the shite you have to deal with living in one. The problem is the big city mentality is slowly creeping in these areas with all the people fleeing the shithole that is Atlanta.

I just got back from a midday jog up Roswell Rd to the Roswell/Piedmont intersection.
I couldn’t help but notice the amount of general litter and sense of unkemptness that has come about recently. That area used to be very clean as recently as 2018 or so.
It’s only a matter of time before Buckhead becomes Atlanta’s version of NOLA East.
