the opioid crises has taken a turn for the worse

New regulations in Texas that are pushed by the fed cdc are causing all family practitioners to refuse to play with the new opiod rules, making them unavailable to senior citizens without getting into a drug rehab program.
Drug rehab centers for senior citizens are established and the one I went had the following attributes
Run by an anesthesiologist who must verify your ailment by starting with new baseline lab work such as MRI', X-rays , pee, inhalation etc. The fact that you are slated for knee replacement in weeks is not enough. I asked him to verify by calling the orthopedist that had the knee models but not acceptable.
Wife with polio resulting in 100% loss of muscle in one leg and 50% in the other was told she needed a back MRI to confirm injury exist, Results said it was nerve damage[no sh-t, its polio] and she will have to attend a neurologist in ??????Houston 200 miles away. for a drug she has used for 35 years
to continue in the program, I would have to go home ,count the number of tramadol pills I had , and report my inventory each month at my appointment.
to continue I had to do a drug pee test at each m monthly appointment.
On my way out I passed 22 senior citizens waiting for their appointment, ready to confess how many pills taken, do a pee test get the go ahead to pick up another 30 day scrip.
By the way all pain scrips have to be logged electronically to a cdc data base to be used by the fbi
The use of fentanyl is going up as fast as opioids going down. Could there be a relationship. kinda like the lab or wet market discussion. the fed govt wants to control my life down to minute

Uh, no shite.
Fentanyl is cheaper, easier to get, black market is booming out of china, etc

would you rather pain management doctors be reduced to pill mills?
Posted on 6/2/21 at 4:26 pm to Trevaylin
I would say take a chill pill but you’d have to have another MRI to get that too
Have you tried not having bad knees?

I think the goal of the hoop jumping is to make you say F it and stop taking any pain pills. The doctors have failed you by letting you be on them for too long and this is their way of trying to get you off of them without admitting that. Liability and all.

That makes sense.
Opioids are a good misery index. Usage tracks with the problems a community faces.

The new documentary on HBO MAX called "the crime of the century" is pretty good

it is their own damn fault for demonizing cannabis.

Should be used much more to treat chronic pain or at least tried first before moving to permanent opioid use for long term pain management.

I imagine you would need to attend a drug rehab program after taking those things for 35 years. That doctor should be ashamed of themselves for doing that to a person.

How do people that take opiods for 30 years take a dump?
I was on them for a month when I broke my ankle and didn't shite for like 2 weeks. Miserable.

It is ridiculous the hoops you have to go through to get effective pain medication.
Opioids should be available for sale without a prescription.
Opioids are the safest most effective pain medications we have and in my opinion nobody should be able to tell you what it takes to relieve your pain. It is much better to take opioids than high levels of Tylenol... that crap will mess you up. Sure if you abuse opioids by taking them in manners not intended you can mess yourself up, but that isn't my problem, I just want my pain gone.

Exactly. Natural, minimal side effects, and in many cases as effective or more effective than pills.
Instead let's set up a draconian system that puts extra undue stress on seniors.

People aren’t taking opioids because they’re injured.
It’s because they’re in unhappy and miserable situations.
Smoking weed won’t help either. It does nothing to solve the problem. It just helps you accept the misery.

The extra restrictions combined with the legalization of weed in so many places has caused the perfect storm

Opioids have caused like ten trillion dollars of damage to the US. Execs doing prison time type shite.
shite is absolutely out of fricking control and they had to do something. Sadly, like always, it’s pushing the junkies to the black market, but insurers won’t have to foot the bill for that.

They get prescribed more drugs for opioid induced constipation. The cycle continues.
