Cool?
Every day all around the world people become religious, change religions or drop religion altogether. Why is this newsworthy?

Why do atheists want to promote atheism? And if they think atheism is so good it deserves to be promoted, why did they wish their former secretary all the best in his new Christian life?

Color me surprised there is even an atheist society in Kenya...

No one, and I mean NO ONE, proselytizes their religion like an atheist proselytizes their religion of non-religion.

It’s been said that in order to be an atheist you have to have a very good understanding of what it is that you don’t believe in.

Generally speaking, it’s a promotion of empiricism, logic and rationality. It’s a promotion of atheism only in as much as advancement of those principles correlates strongly with decreased religiosity on both the individual and societal level.

The average western atheist has a greater understanding of Christianity and world religions than the average western Christian, at least based on every study and poll ever conducted to date.
The reason devout Christians represent such a small minority of people claiming Christianity is that it’s much harder to believe in it after a deep dive into the theology. It only holds up on a superficial level in the light of our modern knowledge of the world.

I just don't understand why you guys make it your life crusade to go after sources of happiness and purpose for people. You don't have to be of a faith to recognize that it is objectively a good thing for the world when people find sources of contentment, belonging, worth, etc.
If you guys are so against irrational and non-scientific groups, why aren't you going after things like cosplay contests, fantasy communities, etc.
Just like those things are based on subjects that don't exist, they still provide a source of community for people.
Why is that a bad thing?

I wasn’t on that mailing list.
Sounds about right, but I didn’t get the memo.

Hahahaha
I’ll take “Statements that declare the opposite of reality” for $500, Alex.
ETA: there is nothing more illogical and irrational than atheism.

Dude sounds unstable. Promotion of a belief in no god is an inherent sign of instability. If you don’t think there is a god, then you just ignore religion altogether. But this dude swings from one thing to another. Unstable and insecure.

I care about religion only in as much as it impacts my life. More specifically, how it impacts the legislative habits of politicians and voting habits of everyone else.

People don’t vote based on their affinity for cosplay. Moreover, these people don’t actually believe in the literal existence of such things.

Call me a cynic, but the press release sounds fake. Specifically, paragraphs 2 & 3. The don't say he converted to Christianity, but rather that he found Jesus. And they wish him luck in his "relationship with Jesus." Would an atheist society write a press release like that? Sounds more like it came from a Christian group.

That doesn’t make sense, does it? Follow the money?
