You can make a case for Long.

Way Cannon is playing, who can take his spot?

I'd personally still start Yedlin over Cannon.
The pipe dream is Antonee Robinson realizing his potential and that would allow Dest to go to the right.

Cannon has been unimpressive his past couple of games

GK: Horvath—> Steffen
RB: Dest—> Dest, unless Robinson takes LB, in which case it could be Reynolds, Yedlin, etc
CD: Brooks—> Brooks
CD: McKenzie—> Lots of people, perhaps including Long are in contention
LB: Cannon—> Cannon or Dest
CDM: McKennie—> Adams
CM: Lletget—> McKennie
CM: Yueill—> Musah
LW: Reyna—> Pulisic
RW: Lletget—> could be Lletget or a lot of other options, tbh, including Musah
CF: Sargent —> Sargent, Dike, maybe Hoppe?

It’s good to see some frick brought back into the fold from the wilderness

I like his ability to play multiple positions.

I would like to see more of Yedlin. It would be nice to have veteran leadership out there without it being Tim Ream. Long would have provided that.
I think the problem is a systemic one for Gregg. He wants to play a passing and possession based style, including passing out of possession, which is absolutely the weakest parts of Yedlin’s game (except maybe forgetting to guard the back post). I noticed today that Cannon was moving a little more centrally when we possessed the ball, almost like the inverted right back thing we did with Adams for those few games. It made the difference on a few plays. Sadly I don’t think Yedlin really fills that role, although I love the weapon that his speed provides.
As for Robinson I think he deserves a look at starting for us again but his strength is in bombing down the field and putting in crosses, and he is doing better with the defensive aspect from what I’ve seen this season. But again for the “possession at all costs, pass it out of the back thing” Gregg seems to be glued to, I think Dest fits better there. Antonee would be better in a 3 CB formation where he plays as wing back. I don’t think that formation allows us to press as aggressively as we do with the 4-3-3. That said, I would love to go back to playing with Antonee at LB and Dest at RB and just see how we do.
