Life is too short to live in Louisiana. Down vote away but living and raising a family in East TN has me wondering why anyone would willingly suffer through that shithole

I agree man. I just took a recent trip to NOLa and I’m like damn, this is our biggest attraction of a city smh. It’s a shame. As much as I love Louisiana and the people, this place is not very fun. Just miserable people and casinos

Maybe I'm a little tougher than you, but I love and enjoy living in Louisiana even though there are obvious major shithole problems from the infrastructure to the worthless politicians and crime which piss me off (though the worthless politician part seems to have spread pretty evenly across America these days). Still, I do understand why people want to live in other places.

Also, I really enjoy Tennessee and it has some really beautiful scenery, but East Tennessee (Knoxville, Chatanooga and Johnson City have some of the highest crime rates in America when comparing similar-sized cities). And Tennessee's violent crime rate state-wide is actually higher than Louisiana's somehow. So let's not pretend it's Mayberry (although it clearly has other very nice positives).

Yeah...just went back to the state for 3 months after being away a long time, here are the problems people in Louisiana don't even realize:

-Internet is slow, hard to get in some places
-Cable sucks compared to streaming services
-Water infiltrates everything, it's a constant concern...everywhere to the south and east of Cenla is a flood hazard.
-Mosquitos are 3rd worse here (Northern plains and Alaska are still worse, but they are only outside for a month)
-The roads are absolute shite, major thoroughfares for thousands of residents aren't maintained.
-The crime affects everyone. Even black "adults" are pleading on SM for it to stop. A gun store robbery in the sticks about a month ago caused me to miss an appointment.
-The weather is relentless. You don't realize how taxing the humidity is until you live in 50% or lower humidity. Repetitive storm damage is unreal year after year.
-There is no cost of living advantage unless you live in the sticks like Evangelon or Grant Parish. It doesn't exist.
-Louisiana has fewer live music options and venues of any state I've visited in the south in the past year, only New Orleans might be an exception, but I doubt it. Entertainment as a whole is far weaker in Louisiana. Only duck hunting seems to be a clear superior entertainment outlet above and beyond neighbor states.
-The education system blows. Far less for students to get involved in...idk why it's like this. My kid went through three other school systems. His cousins LA.
-Louisiana only cultivates only a few outdoor hobbies, and doesn't/can't protect cyclists on the road.

I could go on and on...and yeah there are some advantages like food choices, etc. But as a whole it's just not worth it. And I love my home state, but it's just pathetic.
