You think he really wanted this to be the season 3 of the show?

I think he 100% had no interest in doing a Season 3, at least not for several more years. All his comments after S2 were about how the show had reflected life in his 20s and he had nothing else to say about that time period; that any more Master of None would have to reflect the more mature life in his 30s...which he was only currently experiencing.

I think Netflix wanted to do something with Lena Waithe who is a massive critical darling (largely thanks to her role on Master of None), and they convinced Aziz to use Master of None to further her career.

I’ve only watched episode one but I’m still willing to give it a chance. Aziz has always been a sharp guy, and I’ve respected his artistic choices throughout his career.

I do though think this is another example (in a very long line of examples) of forcing social justice leading to subpar entertainment. I loved Denise’s character in seasons 1 and 2. Her homosexuality and viewpoints added to the show that Dev was wanting to write. Now that it’s forced for the sake of representing black lesbian couples, the entertainment value of the show has worn off. It feels didactic even if it’s doing an okay job not being overly preachy.

Gay characters can be fantastic when they’re written organically and they’re not trying to force it down your throat.

Holt from B99 and Oscar are 2 of my favorite characters in the last 10 years.

Watched 2/3 of first episode. I’m out. Pointless to view a show with a protagonist that actively hates white people, and this is brought up about 4 times just in this episode. Hell with it.

Was anyone able to finish season 2? One of the biggest drop offs in quality between season 1 and 2 I've ever seen.

was talking about the Thanksgiving episode of season 2 where I’m pretty sure she officially came out to her family unless I’m mixing episodes and seasons up.

That was a great episode
