NOT Paul bashing but why has Vandy - Ark - State passed them?

Vandy ALWAYS has pitching. Ark is good every year. State is doing well. Why LSU struggling ?

Consistently developing players, especially pitchers. Hiring good assistants.

Because there coaches don't whine about everything
Instead they go out and recruit and do the job at hand
Our coach would rather whine about Vandy's scholarship advantage

1) Paul doesn’t recruit. So he’s had to have a dedicated recruiter as one of his paid coaches. For a number of years, he relied on unqualified former players to be his hitting coach.
2) Paul was slow to adjust the makeup of his team once the NCAA un-deadened the ball. He had a preference for elite fielders, usually shortstops and center fielders at every position. As a result, the lineups lacked consistent power.
He seems to have turned a corner this year, but it’s a about five years too late.
3) he’s old. Respect the man for what he’s accomplished. Only 4-5 guys are active with a resume that is equal or superior to his. But he seems to have lost an edge. This is probably why it’s been widely speculated by the BR sports media that he’ll be stepping down at the end of the year.

The consistent power is not on this team either
They are at the bottom of league in HR's in sec games only

Why is this allowed to happen? I equate this to someone just flat out not showing up to work, or showing up and not doing a damn thing all day. A college coach not going out and recruiting is inexcusable.

Well Vandy can pretty much give every player financial aid.
Arky- Dave Van Horn is a pretty awesome coach.
State- No idea.

Similar situation to Roy Williams at UNC in basketball. He lost the fire, the kids stopped responding, and it’s time for everyone to move on.

You are wrong.

Vanderbilt has a built in advantage with scholarships
Arkansas has a better coach
MS State has done well in player development IMO

Because Paul actually retired 6 years ago

Because he’s phoned it in since Bregman left if we’re gonna be honest. 2017 was a fluke. This program was stale before 2017 and it’s been dead afterwards.

Only Vandy has "passed" LSU. Vandy is a legitimate yearly contender for the NC.
Their academics, scholarship money available, and newfound success has made them a quality program.
State and Arkansas aren't any different than they've always been. LSU has fallen below them. Those two are always capable of having a great team...but not at the level of Vanderbilt.

They have a better training staff for one thing. Every year LSU is a MASH unit. Time to wipe out that department and start anew with better methods that keep players on the field.

How much "going out and recruiting" do you think Skip did? Hint: Very little.
That's part of the issue. CPM is very much of the mentality of an old-school MLB manager. The problem is, there's not enough assistant coaches allowed to be able to really do that, unless your assistant coaches can also do multiple things well, like a pitching or a hitting coach who can also be your recruiting coordinator.
Years ago, that didn't matter much but as more teams are getting better programs and competing for athletes, it matters more and more.
Your HC must be able to do something else. Skip didn't recruit but he did call pitches.
