My wife’s grandfather recently passed away. He had a 1,000 gal diesel skid tank on his property and her family would like it gone. It is 20+ years old but it is structurally sound. Any idea of its potential value and how to market it?

The problem is a lot of places deliver tanks if you buy fuel.

If you drag it. Pressure wash the shite out of it and paint it, I'd imagine you could get decent money for it. 500-1000 bucks.

I agree but her family thinks it has value exceeding scrap. I suggested $500 OBO to them but I also said I’d ask for advice from the OB experts...

Need to check the inside of that tank, if it’s rusted and flaking it’s junk

Honestly you’d be lucky to get .50/gallon for an atmospheric storage tank. Scrap it.

Not at all.

Flush with water.

Let dry.

Run a spin on filter before the pump.

Also you may want to make sure a fuel company doesn’t technically still own it. It may not be your property to sell

Does it have any diesel in it?

It’s likely full of algae, rust and moisture

Probably on worth around $250-$400

I am in the fuel business and we buy tanks like this all the time...we would probably pay 300 for it. You could probably get 500 for it from a farmer depending on how good of shape it’s in.

Either they want it gone or they want to make money on it. The 2 aren't exactly mutual.

Like I said, it’s been there for over 2 decades. If a fuel company did own it, they forgot about it long ago.

Sorry to get off topic, but can anyone recommend somewhere to buy (2) used 8' lg tanks. I am going to get a fab shop to weld a frame to the top and create a small pontoon platform.
