61 yr old grandmother: First had no business in the French Quarter
2nd arguing with a piece of shite street hustler who was at best trying to rob her.
They need to flood New Orleans for two years then plant corn in it when the water goes down

I do not agree with this line of thinking. There is no reason why the most touristy area of the city can't be and shouldn't be safe. I hate how "handcuffed" (no pun intended) the NOPD is by the federal consent decree.

WTF? Is this Paris with No Go Zones now?
100 block of Royal is between Canal and Iberville. Hell you got 1000’s upon 1000’s of people walking right there everyday.

Ideally, this should obviously not be the case. The city leaders and residents should be embarrassed. Problem is: the people in charge will do whatever they can to justify this. “Something something social inequity something something covid.”
It WILL be swept under the rug. No doubts there.
It’s pathetic that the FQ is such a shithole. It’s sad that such an historic and culturally vibrant city isn’t worth the risk to visit.

Tell that to Chris Owens.
