Posting this because so many of you seem baffled at simple traffic concepts like turn lanes or roundabouts. I know this because I drive along side and near you.

Here's a helpful guide on what to do when you encounter a blinking yellow signal.

East Baton Rouge Parish drivers will soon see blinking yellow left turn arrows on traffic lights, which could help move traffic through intersections, city officials said in a news release Monday.

The blinking yellow lights signal that a driver can make a left-hand turn after yielding to any oncoming traffic or pedestrians. The blinking signal will be added as a fourth to lights that currently have a solid green arrow (okay to turn), a solid yellow arrow (stop if you can do so safely) and a solid red arrow (stop, do not turn).

The Federal Highway Administration has tested the blinking signals and found that they reduced left turn crashes by 35% while helping move more traffic through intersections.

Remember that time they removed the light at East Boyd and Burbank for about 3 weeks?

That went well.

It works in other states, but Louisiana drivers are unusually stupid.

I remember when I lived in BR I would be baffled by all the people treating blinking red/yellow like a four-way stop. It’s like they all collectively skipped that day at drivers ed

I've lived in an area with blinking signals, they are wonderful. You would no longer be waiting for entire light cycles in order to turn.

Louisiana will find a way to frick it up.

I bet that at least half the posters in this thread think the blinking yellow will replace the green arrow. Because they didn't read the OP.

Lafayette has that shite and I've seen a ton of accidents because of it.

Older people have it ingrained in their brain that the next light after Red is Green. When it goes from Red to flashing yellow, they go, and get smoked by oncoming traffic.

Legally, and on paper, it makes sense and should work great. In practice? Not so much.
We're licensed to drive for life. The rules changes, but we don't. It's a lot different out there since grandpa took his driving test back in 1960.

There is already something like that at the Hooper/Mickens intersection.

We have a lot of those here now and all of a sudden, everyone becomes a race car driver and almost always creates an accident. This 'rona crap created crappy drivers.

That was already possible with the solid green light after a green arrow.

Plenty of people already treat a yellow light as a stop light. Making it blinking just confuses/scares them even more.

They're everywhere in Atlanta. Some people are too dumb to discern that a solid green also means yield to oncoming traffic.

It's widespread here in Illinois. Works well.

And you thought traffic circles were bad, wait till Louisiana drivers are hit with this.

They have those in Atlanta and it seems to keep the turn lane moving....or at least in my experience.

It will definitely be useful at night when some intersections are deserted and won’t have to worry about some low life coming out of nowhere and jack your car

It's a separate blinking yellow arrow. I don't think it will be that challenging. Turn left allowed after yielding to traffic.

Drivers turning on Camelia from Veron's have no clue how to use that light.
