Last week, a friend of mine (and a lurker here) contacted me out of the blue. He was a picker like me, but moved to Portland about ten years ago. He told me he enjoys my posts here on my flips, and he was coming back to town to clean out his storage unit of stuff he bought/collected years ago.
He told me if I’d help him, I could make a pile, and he would give me a great price.
Before I got there, he had already pulled out and made a pile for me that probably wouldn’t even fit in my truck.
I help him for a few hours, pull out a ton of stuff (10x10 packed floor to ceiling).
I make my pile and he says $300. I told home to send me his email, I’d pay him via PayPal. He takes a few days to send it to me, and when he does, I paid him $500, because I didn’t realize the value of some of this stuff.

The pile

1974 football signed by team/coaches (sold $150)

Whisky decanter/steins/cannon (sold $40

Framed Maravich poster

Book signed by Holtz

Mork doll

65 real movie posters (mostly 90’s, all “Man” movies, some from the 80’s). I’ve done sold about 30 of them

Unopened model

Looney Tune UD cards

Angola jewelry box full of cuff links

NASA windbreaker from gift shop

Giant box packed full of vintage GI Joe accessories (sold $140)

GI Joe Submarine (sold $80)

2 Sega Genesis consoles (not working) & 17 games

Sterling silver Cross pen set

GI Joe Gen Patton

Star Trek box full of figures

This isn’t even all of the stuff I bought. Plus, all the stuff I passed on went to Here Today, Gone Tomorrow thrift store. I didn’t even take 1/4 of the stuff he wasn’t keeping.

Please let me know if you ever find a Mall Madness game. My daughter is still mad that I sold her game in 2006.

It stays in my storeroom in garage. She still gets pissed until the money rolls in.

I was prepared to make an offer on that knight helmet if it was real and not a bar set.

This guy had a ton of board games (50 at least). That’s one thing I don’t even look at because I learned years ago, they don’t bring money for the most part.

That Patton doll is getting with the times; he’s transitioning to a Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery doll.

It was just the box (in poor condition), but it was full of all kinds of gi joe stuff (clothes, weapons, small odds and ends, about 100 pieces). No figures.

I would love to do what you do but focused solely on vintage GI Joe. But I do not have the patience that you do

you only got $40 for the whole lot? That decanter set seems worth more than that by itself.

Do you ever mess with comic books from the 60s (silver age)?

It’s a schedule of 1974 (I think). They are pretty common and not valuable, maybe $15.

I do not sell here.

I got big trax for Christmas when I was young. I’ve been telling my son about it, but never could remember what it was called. Now I know(didn’t really remember after I saw the name)
Great stuff
