I use Kaspersky and have been for the past 5 years. It is as solid as they come for detection and updates.

If you want to buy anything buy Malwarebytes real time protection.....but in today’s age Windows Defender is good for most people.
The real thing to do is be cognizant of websites you visit, emails you open, and use hard passwords and MFA (if possible)for all your logins

I use ESET on my main desktop. Everything else is on Windows Defender.

Windows defender is pretty decent now.
