Anyone getting big offers for their used trucks?

My buddy got offered 37K for a used 16 Ram. I'm reading quite a bit on other truck forums of guys getting premium offers, sometimes more than what they paid new. Vroom, Carvanq, CarMax, dealerships, etc.

Guy I was working with said he got offered $32k for a 15 Silverado single wheel 1 ton 4wd with 230k miles.

Truck prices are sky high right now, it’s no surprise they are offering more right now to get people in to buy new ones.

Same with 4 Runners. Some going for over 7k what they were going for just last year. I’m talking even some 2015 models.

Bought my 2020 Tacoma in September last year paid $35k OTD.
Put 7,000 miles on it and just traded it two weeks ago for a 2018 tundra. Dealership gave me $37.5k.
They now have it listed on their lot for $39k.

Wait. How does this work and why?
How and why would someone buy a $35k used truck?
What’s the business model here? I’m not grasping it

Got offered 37k for my 17' silverado high country. Would have been all in, but I just paid it off. Don't miss notes that much.

I’m looking to spend $32k or so soon on a new GMC. Tag price is $49k. Between rebates, trade-in, and supplier discount, I’m sure it’ll be fine.

I had to block Toyota of Slidell’s number after daily calls asking me to trade my truck in.

Damn, I have a spare 2006 Dodge 2500 4x4 cummins powered. it only has 184,000 miles on it and is in pretty good shape for a truck that old.
Wonder what I could get for it. LOL

Sounds like the trade will be big and the rest maybe not as much

Supply and demand. There is a severe shortage of new inventory that started from plant shutdowns last year due to covid and increased due to the chip shortages this year. Dealers will pay anything for used inventory right now. All the cheap trucks have sold from people having big down payments due to stimulus checks. Inventory is getting squeezed on the low end and high end. Book values aren’t keeping up but dealers are ignoring them (which I’ve never seen them do, even in previous quick supply changes due to cash for clunkers or $4 gas).

You need an expensive truck to reliably carry $20K stacks of 1/2” plywood.

Where are people getting these “offers” at?

Went to LeBlanc toyota to get an estimate on new bilsteins and a brakes eval. 2011 tacoma trd offroad with 190k miles. Got offered 18k.
Figured 15 or 16 was its ceiling

Damn. I may have to go get an appraisal. I could sell my truck and drive a car or suv for a couple years if the price was right.

I purchased my 2016 Silverado 18 months ago for $36k and traded it in 3 months ago. Got $37k trade-in and the dealer sold it a week later for $39k. Crazy times we are living in.
