Wade probably couldn't point out Utah on a map

Utah Jazz trying REAL HARD to give off a more "progressive" image. Guess they're tired of players accusing their fans of racism over the years.

It's also because now they can say they're a "black owned" organization. Same reason LeBron bought into the red Sox. Neither Wade or LeBron have any connection to the organization or region into which they are now part owners, so it's obviously a PR stunt. It's a great way to deflect bad PR down the road, especially when you're a massively white area in which both Boston and Utah are, and both have been accused of having a racist fanbase.

From ESPN:
quote:
Wade described a synergy to Smith's progressive vision of transforming the Jazz's success on the court -- including a league-leading 41-14 record -- into becoming a cultural leader in the community and state. Beyond Smith's lifelong love of the Jazz and basketball, his devotion to social causes made the organization an easy sell to Wade. Smith has dedicated a four-year college scholarship to an underserved student for every Jazz victory this season and partnered with Apple CEO Tim Cook to invest $4 million into the construction of eight Encircle homes, which provide safe-haven homes for LGBTQ youth and their families. Smith has embraced the Black Lives Matter movement, publicly supporting his players on those issues.
quote:
"We're not running away from the racial and social and LGBTQ conversations," Wade told ESPN. "I'm committed to doing the work. I talk about the LGBTQ community, which everyone knows is important to me. My daughter is part of that community.

I bet you complain about politics in sports.

LeBron also owns part of Liverpool. It's a way for them to invest money into something they are obviously interested in, sports.

I bet you don't know what you're talking about. If you disagree with my statement then you don't understand PR in 2021 or the political/cultural climate.

Lmao, that's it. You got me.

Or it's just a reality to the moment we live in. I never said it was bad/good.
It's the same reason big corps target minorities for jobs or universities target minorities for scholarships.
Or why the Utah jazz came out with a scholarship program that targets minorities only.
quote:
SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — New Utah Jazz owner Ryan Smith announced Thursday on The Woj Pod that for every Jazz win this year, a four-year-scholarship will be offered to an underrepresented or minority student.
It's because Smith knows the Utah fanbase has a bad reputation for race AND it is good PR. He's not stupid.

So for DWade's 1 % ownership what does he get? I mean LeBron and Magic had 2% ownership of MLB franchises and got treated as if they were primary owners by some media.
