If China were to invade Taiwan, what would it actually look like?

This is the only thing that makes me think China doesn't have the balls to do it. We would immediately see everything on the internet, I mean would they storm beaches and bomb..or what?
They've gotten so good at buying politicians they haven't had to go on the offensive with violence, have they bought politicians in Taiwan as well?
ETA: Based on responses, I don't think its happening in a violent assault way anytime soon.

Taiwan is proud and has a very strong defense for such a small country. China would undoubtedly win but Taiwan would extract more than a pound of flesh from them.
Of course, this is assuming Taiwan does not have nukes.
Officially they say they do not but then Israel says the same thing and we all know they have 100s of them.
It wouldn't surprise me if Taiwan has their own "Sampson Option" if things get grim.
What would you do if an overwhelming force came to kill you, rape your women, and enslave your kids?
Blow everything to hell is what I would do. Take as many of the enemy with you as you can.

For sure, but China does not care about the human toll. They have plenty to sacrifice and the one child policy ensured that they have to many men so it will help them they likely believe.

China is not getting an amphibious invasion force large enough to take Taiwan across the strait any time soon. The allied naval and air power would wreck their shite.
When China takes Taiwan, it will be via agreement with one of Taiwan’s political parties.

Massive missile and air strikes that knock out all electricity and C&C and communications that completely isolates Taiwan from the rest of the world followed by a full blockade.
A massive siege is preferable over putting boots on the ground. They want to prevent the US from getting involved and it’s the most important aspect.

I agree with this though. Just don’t see how they’d be able to effectuate one. China doesn’t control western access to Taiwan, and they totally lack the capability to do so

Taiwan is building a robust home water modern diesel/electric sub fleet, they will sink an assload of Chinese shipping.

A Chinese invasion equals a high cost to mainland China.
Taiwan can respond with Cruise and ICBM missiles aimed at mainland population centers in China. If Taiwan chooses a fight to the death...China pays a higher price both economically and globally.
Taiwan has Patriot Missile defenses with next generation of improved Patriots in the loop. They also developed their own systems to expand their defense systems purchased from the US.
Their defense has been developed around missile systems. Like Santa Anna storming the Alamo ...the cost to China will be massive.
