In his first season at Missouri State, Petrino wins at least a share of the Missouri Valley Conference. Will he ever get another shot at the FBS level?

He'll need to win big a couple more years at Missouri State before someone seriously looks at him again. Remember, he wasn't really fired at Louisville for any personal issues, he was canned because the AD was imploding during the Pitino/Adidas mess and he was sucking at the time.
When his ride-or-die athletic director Tom Jurich, was fired, he was dead man walking. Jurich was also probably one of the only P5 Ads that would have even touched Petrino when he was hired anyway.
Petrino's biggest issue now is recruiting and putting together a staff of people that actually want to be around that shithead. He was never much interested in recruiting and it was extremely difficult to get players who wanted that kind of coaching, but he did have a great eye for diamonds in the rough and developing players, especially QBs.
Once even his old stalwart assistants left him and he was basically hiring everyone in his family to coach, plus devastating the roster due to lowly recruiting, it was over. He also fell too much in love with mobile QBs with Lamar Jackson and seemed to be trying to reicate him, but it didn't work.
The only big schools I could ever see hiring him again would be a program who desparately wants to win and doesn't care if they have to sell their soul to do it.
But buyer beware, because he burns down every program he coaches at, and leaves a hell of a mess for the next coach.
I would though, just once, like to see him at a recruting powerhouse program with it talent on the roster and see what he could do with it. He's kind of like Mike Leach in that way, that he's never had the ability to out talent people like Saban and Meyer, etc did, but still won big.

what exactly did this guy do "wrong" again?
he had some money hungry, Volleyball player on his motorcycle during the crash?
so what? ... both were grown adults and were using one another.

Jeff Long said the main reason he was fired was because Pretino lied to him..
Thats not the actual truth.
The real reason he was canned was because he hired his mistress over 125 other candidates who applied for her job within the athletic program, many of whom were far more qualified than her.
Arkansas was scared of some kind of class action civil suit against them over hiring malpractice.

How he and Todd Grantham co-existed for 3 years together is beyond me.
As for going back to FBS...he'll need a few more years. He'll have to win away at MO State just to make people forget the baggage.

He also walked out of the Falcons locker room leaving only a note to the players. I know one Falcon player at that time and though I don’t know him well these days to get his exact story of it, he’s made it well known through FB comments that he despised Petrino as did everyone else in the locker room. I don’t know exactly what he did other than the note and walking out mid season, but he absolutely despises him and this is a super nice guy I don’t think I’ve heard talk bad about anyone else BUT Petrino.

He diverted university resources to make sure his mistress was hired for a job she was unqualified for , lied about it / covered it up.. that’s fireable

They wont go to the playoffs as the auto unfortunately
From what they looked like last year with that bum Steck to what they looked like vs UCA and now is so great.

He did lie to Long your post proves it. Then add the secondary lie of the wreck, they had no choice in firing him. The mistake was letting the players pick John L

I love that his OC is his son and his DC is his son-in-law

Right but there are always going to be some folks that come into a Petrino thread and act like all he did was have an affair

If Petrino was winning 10 games a year at Louisville he wouldn't have been fired.
He finished unranked and .500 in a weak conference in his second to last season then was 2-8 (0-7) when he was fired in his last season.
He lost that program and they weren't winning anymore.

He created a state government position and then broke state employment laws to hire his paramour.
That's why he got fired.

The issue with Petrino has never been his inability to coach.

Too focused on the volleyball pussy at that point to care about winning.
