And for that matter, there HAS to be some sort of coating that can be applied that prevents this absorption 100% huh? Some RainX or airplane type stuff?

If it soaks up water it needs to be sealed again.

So it did evaporate and clear up completely.

I'm wondering it they sealed it at the fab shop like they said they did.

Good to hear, but there’s no freaking way. I’ve never seen that before. Not saying it’s overly rare, but that’s not normal.

We have quartzite and it will not do that with a water ring left from a cup....I know bc my kids are terrible with leaving their drinks on the counter.
I’m betting your counter wasn’t sealed correctly or maybe not at all

Yeah, That water ring ain’t right. No way that a properly
Sealed quartzite stone should leave that mark from water

We have marble and I used to get worked up over wine stains and citrus juice etchings but have gotten more relaxed about it. Maybe it’s because the kids are older.
I see the marks as a character marks now.

Verify it is quartzite, and not "soft quartzite" which is marble.
Acids won't react with quartzite - put some lemon juice on there and see if it bubbles within a few minutes. It is also much harder - you shouldn't be able to scratch it with your keys - try in an inconspicuous spot. I had my "quartzite" counters replaced after install - as I proved it wasn't real quartzite. The stone guys were not pleased.

hydrogen peroxide and baking soda

Does this work pretty well with one shot? My wife does the same routine but with baking soda and acetone. It works great at pulling the stains out of granite, but I can't stand the house smelling like a Walmart nail salon for days after.
