Not only my favorite Steve Martin film but one of my favorite films in general.

Amen. Planes, Trains, and Automobiles came out in 1987. I was 12 when we rented it on VHS. My gf wouldn't be born until 1988, and my oldest of 4 kids was born in 2003.
I 'made' them watch this 'old movie' a few years ago and they all loved it! Candy and Martin are timeless greats. And the plot is relatable to any generation. It's also regarded as one of John Hughes best films.
One of the best ever. And that makes it Steve Martin's best in my opinion.
