A few eps in. It's like The Boys meets Watchmen , with a dash of Invincible tossed in. In fact, there's some parts which are damn near straight out of Invincible.
It's pretty decent so far.

This is a pretty mixed bag of reviews.

If you're burned out on super hero stories, then it might not be for you.
I'm just at the point where the backstory explains how they get their 'powers'. There's already been a couple of nice plot twists, so I'll see where this goes for season 1, at least.

The girl Chloe is straight up horrible.

Self absorbed model with massive daddy issues. Plays the role accurately, but my lord she’s unbearable to watch on screen.

Chloe and her annoying arse Liza Minnelli haircut are the worst part of the show. Honestly, you can just fast forward through most of her scenes because everything with her is a cliche.
Good first season, felt they should have had two more episodes though, but that's just my opinion.

I just finished it. I liked the flashback parts of it alot. The present days stuff was meh.
Second that. They did a good job telling the back story. I found myself wanting to watch that more than the present day stuff.

We finished the season today and it was underwhelming. I was hoping the tone would improve but it remained an angry and depressing show. In most Superhero shows the good guys and the bad guys are usually well defined. In this show many of the "heroes" are dicks.
It sort of reminded of "The Great Santini" with Sheldon Sampson, The Utopian not being as bad as Lt. Col. Wilbur "Bull" P. Meechum, a.k.a "The Great Santini" but still a Dad that has his thumb down on his kids requiring expectations they can't live up to.
It would have been nice to have seen some humor injected into this show to break up the very angry and depressed theme.

Chloe reminds me of less interesting , whiney , needy Jessica Jones.
* Also, The Utopian's 'Code', the idea of never ever killing anyone, even the bad guy who murdered 3 'supers', and who knows how many civilians would have died, is ridiculous. Even Superman killed Zod, to save civilians.

Some of the flashbacks dragged on and on. First two episodes and last two episodes were great for the flashbacks. The middle was meh.
Blackstar’s clone was boss. Clear Darkseid rip off but still. Also why are they giving him books and such in supermax?

Definitely trying to riff on Batman’s code. But in a far more condescending and self-righteous way.

Now that we have the origin story, I hope we get to see some of their battles from over the years. We keep hearing about how bad it is out there now, but other than the not Blackstar fight and Lady Liberty throw down, we didn’t really see much of it. How did these other people get their powers? I understand the children getting theirs, but what about the villains?

In the episode where all the supes fought him my first thought was a clear ripping off of the Infinity War showdown with Thanos.

The boat captain seemed to have gained something once the six got theirs.

Started it after I saw the critics hated it but 80% audience on RT which means a fun non woke show

The flashbacks pretty much suck in episode 3-6. They are great in 7 and 8. Stick it out. The modern day stuff is hit or miss once you get pass episode 2.
They really need better writing for Chloe in season 2. Or at least a better haircut. Right now she is basically an nonredeemable brat.
Seems a little obvious where they are going with Sheldon though.

It is ok, finished it in one sitting. I would say 6 of 10, that is mainly because of the character Chloe.
But the character of Chloe will become one of the main 2 later in the show if it is renewed for 2-3 seasons more down the road.
The question is does Chloe end up on the good side or Bad and the same for the Brandon character.
What I liked about the show is the 1929-early 30's flash backs.
Season 2 if renewed has to fill many gaps on the story.

I watched the first 3 episodes. It was pretty boring. I’ll probably skip rest of series.

I'm on ep 4 and not that impressed. Someone above compared the FX to Sky High, nailed it.
I like the flashbacks for no other reason that hardly any shows cover the end of the Roaring 20s and the Great Depression. That part is interesting to me.
The change in character of his dad, from life to death, is weird and doesn't feel plausible, unless there's more to this than I've seen so far.
Chloe is dreadful, cliche, and worth fast forwarding through.
I'm currently watching this, Tales from the Loop, and Sons of Anarchy. I think I'll jump back to Loop and then maybe finish this since SoA is so many more seasons.
If you want an interesting story on teens with super powers and how they grow in to them, I highly recommend the book series by Drew Hayes: Super Powereds
It tells a great story about super heroes with interesting twists on their powers and how they use them. There's a feel of Beverly Hills 90210 or Dawson's Creek type stuff, but it's really well written. I'd love to see the four books turned in to a TV series on Netflix or Amazon.
