Question: was one of the side effects mouth pain? Like you’d burned your tongue?

Some people have mentioned a metallic taste.

My first Moderna shot kicked my arse, too. High fever, body aches, killer headache. It lasted for about 36 hours and went away as quickly as it came on. My second dose was a lot better with just some mild fatigue and mild headache - basically a mild hangover. Hopefully it's the same for you. Just for reference, I had a mild case of covid (basically a sinus infection) four months ago. My wife had covid at the same time, and she had the same reaction to the first dose that I had.

It’s the only side-effect I’ve had from the first Moderna shot. Feels like I swished boiling water around my mouth.

I had Covid in November and had a rough time with it. Don’t think I could survive/outlast another round of it. Only reason I’m taking vaccine.

We've handled the successions of five people who died of it in the past year, including a husband and wife who died within a day of each other. I know of several more who were very sick. All the ones who died were old and/or had underlying conditions, as did most of the ones who had severe illness. A couple, however, didn't have anything discernibly wrong with them and still got significantly ill.

Most people, (including me) shook it off with no symptoms or nothing to be too concerned about. It is deadly to a non-trivial number of people, though. You can argue against some of the draconian measures and you'd have a good argument. But saying that it's a minor illness diminishes that argument.

And I understand this.

But I asked “why would someone get the vaccine after they have had Covid?”

To which your response speaks nothing to at all.

Unless old or frail, probably way worse than Rona would be.

Its crazy the amount of people bragging about getting the vaccine when covid is less than 1% mortality rate and for it being so deadly many people don't even know they got it when they got it.

I had a very mild case, and how much immunity that confers is still unsettled, AFAIK. Two shots and I can put this shite out of my mind for good. That's my reasoning. I'm not trying to convince anybody. Make your own decisions.

I personally know 5 people who have died from it. 3 more who have had long term complications. One guy is laying in UAB right now and will need a lung transplant. Like the other guy said, you may very well recover, but if you are in the 2-3% who can't handle the virus, it will be a terrible death or recovery.

The multitudes of variants that will necessitate shots for the rest of your life, while wearing masks, social distance and living like a hermit say that’s a big, big fattest of the fattest......no.

Is it possible that you got the second shot first? Surely some mistakes are being made with that many shots being given nationwide. You might be that 1 in 50,000 people.

First dose. I've seen the hypothesis floated around that people who had already had covid reacted more to the first shot than those who had never had covid. Anecdotal evidence in my household would support that hypothesis.

Got Pfizer, my wife had a bad reaction with the first and no reaction with the second. I had the reverse, second dose felt like a hangover the day after and went away the next day.

Depends on how long ago they got sick. Anitbodies wear off after a period of time.
