La outside of New Orleans and some of BR has been mask free the entire time basically. You can wear it if you want, but they aren't gonna tell you to put it on. Unless the particular business wants to mandate it.

Most of the restaurants are still abiding by the rules, but the bars are definitely turning into a free for all. I went to Katy Trail Ice House Friday and there weren't very many masks in sight, granted it is outdoors.

Most people who want to be vaccinated have had at least one shot by now, and those who haven't have a very slim chance of experiencing severe symptoms.
For wanting to follow the science and math, the "wear a mask/covid is deadly crowd" sure ignore the statistics....

Is it relaxed in the city of Houston, or just in suburbs like Woodlands, Katy and Sugarland?

I was in uptown/downtown Dallas and it was relaxed. Like I said most of the staff every where I went weren't wearing masks so they obviously didn't have a customer policy. Most of the places were packed as well because the weather was nice

I was in San Antonio a couple weekends ago and masks and mask mandates were in full force everywhere I went.

Well there was a mask mandate a couple of weeks ago which may explain why they were mandating masks.

No they are not, was in Dallas since Thursday and around the Dallas/Frisco area I was asked by several restaurants and several other places to wear one. I would say it was a 3-1 wear vs IDC over a 4 day period

A lot of places aren’t even closing at 11
I live in Alexandria, VA (a bastion of progressivism if there ever was one) and the bar/grill I frequented before the pandemic (I can't do anything but take-out right now since I'm military ) is currently staying open until midnight every night. A month or two ago they were closing at 10.

They probably knew you are high risk. I live here. I was at, but not limited to, Katy Trail Ice House, The Rustic, Toller Patio, Truck Yard, and Desert Racer. All had staff working without masks and didn't care that the super majority of customers werent wearing them either.

quote:Same. No idea how many were there, it was packed house. I saw a handful of masks. My daughter asked me to pick up flowers for the dinner table. I ran in to the Walmart in Mont Belview/Baytown, mask vs unmasked was probably around 50/50.
Went to church this morning. I would estimate there were about 1,500 - 2,000 people there and I saw about ten or fifteen masks.
Between SWLA and SETX, I don’t even carry a mask in my truck anymore. One of my daughters (no pics) is waiting tables at a restaurant in Baytown. Right now, customers have a choice of mask or no-mask and can sit in a section with masked servers or a section without. She said the GM is getting ready to get rid of the masks altogether. They’re also handing out full menus again.

I’ve been traveling back and forth between the DFW metroplex area and NOLA / BR for the last 3 weeks as I relocate to Dallas. In all honesty I don’t see much difference between the locations. It’s just as easy to find areas around NOLA and BR that are just as mask free as it is to run into mask enforcers in the DFW area. Some pockets are just inclined to be enforcers and some are just inclined to be totally relaxed. Blanket statements for either area is pretty naive from what I’ve encountered.

I would've agreed with you a week ago. I went to places this weekend that I've been to the last several weeks as well. This weekend was the first that servers were maskless and that a couple of the places didn't have a private mask policy.
That was the point of my post. When the mandate was first lifted, it still existed in practice. That now seems to be changing.

You just named a bunch of outdoor places

Some of which still required a mask and being seated a week ago. Now they don't, which is the point.
And multiple of those have outdoor and indoor areas.
