Generation Kill
I started this again last night (inspired by this thread). They really nailed a lot of the mundane details that you don't usually see and it's obvious there was tons of input from people that were there. I'm only on the first episode, but the AAFES in a CONEX, the huge storm that blew down half our shite the night before the invasion (lost the whole chow hall in that), the boxes of haji water everywhere, getting issued fricking woodland pattern Jlist.

The only thing I've noticed is they try to play up the army having it better than it did at that time, but not surprised by that. It is, after all, about marines, and the notion that the army always has it better seems to be central to their identity when in reality we were all sitting in the same spots (at that time) dealing with the same bullshite.

There was a scene I found funny where the reporter had a hard time securing his MOPP gear during the first SCUD alert. That alert also fricked me up. I had my weapon (203) completely taken apart and spread out on my cot and was cleaning it when the first alert sounded. Remember that at the time we were all terrified of gas (if you notice on the show they react by calling "GAS GAS GAS"). I somehow ran a hundred yards while reassembling my weapon and trying to go to MOPP 4. I was so preoccupied with that shite that I forgot to duck as I entered the concrete bunker and bashed my head into the top at a full run. Knocked myself out, split my forehead open, and got called 'Crash" after that for months.
