Platoon is my favorite combat movie. Couldn’t get Pawpaw to watch it and verify.

The Outpost (Netflix Movie)
The Hornets Nest (Documentary)
Restrepo (Documentary)
Blackhawk Down is realistic
Saving Private Ryan
Fury....really depicts the essence of a tank crew
Generation Kill (Short Series)
Unrealistic hot garbage
The Hurt Locker

Major Payne was so real , it's like the Damon Wayans must have really been in the Army.

Come and See. I think it’s free on YouTube.
Everything else glorified war and makes it look cool. This movie haunts you

The Outpost used actual drone footage in order to depict the siege and battle more accurately.

Father fought in Nam and said first 30 minutes of Full Metal Jacket is the most accurate non combat sequence.

Ol Gunny did a fantastic job.

Probably The Hurt Locker, long periods of boredom followed by short periods of terror
I thought that movie was viewed as hilariously unrealistic?
I think EOD guys panned it hard. I wasn't in that field and I identified with what it was like going home and life inside the wire.

I read it was mostly improvised...just him doing Gunny things.

This was my best friend's response to the question - what was the most accurate combat scene in a Viet Nam war movie?
He spent 2 tours there as a Marine, saw LOTS of combat.
ps...he still complains about the jungle rot on his feet

My grandfather was in WWII , father in Vietnam, and I was I was in Desert Storm. I grew up hearing more about WWII. Even now at 49 movies about WWII get to me more than movies about VN.

D Day vets walked out of the theatre during Saving Private Ryan because the D day invasion scene was so realistic they couldn’t handle it
