I've bought it twice from Rouses now, two or three weeks apart. Both batches had a similar trait. I find the seasoning mix in the store boudin is different than getting hot links directly from the mother ship. The store brand seems to have an overabundance of onion powder. It's also much saltier (preservative?). Are others noticing this?

I have a boudin connoisseur as a student, he's from Scott. He only eats the smoked boudin from Best Stop. Anything else he'll go to Billy's or Don's or wherever else he buys.

I had Best Stop from Rouses a week or two ago. The seasoning was okay, but it had several mystery crunchies and gristle pieces that were inedible.

Not impressed at all.

Don't know if they intend to sell their good stuff through Rouses, but their quality control is off.

Especially at $7+ for two links.
Have never had grocery store bought boudin that was nearly as good as fresh.
No matter what brand

I encountered the same thing. Was going to give it another shot to see if it was just that particular batch.

Poche's was the best boudin you could find 25 years ago. When they opened the big commercial processing facility it wasn't the same. I'm sure it's going to be the same decline for The Best Stop.

I only get the Smoked boudin at the Best Stop...its that good and worth a drive....the best pork boudin in South La is Johnson's Boucaniere in Lafayette...(they just got recognized by South Living for their BBQ with the best side dish ..their Boudin) for some reason the casing just melts in your mouth..no pulling and tugging this boudin)and the best crawfish boudin is in New Iberia at Legnon's Boucherie and its not even close in the crawfish catagory!

Only speculating but I bet the Rousse’s boudin is made separately at a different facility than the boudin sold in Best Stop.

They just built a huge processing facility behind the original best stop. I think all of the grocery store stuff comes from there.

While I’m a fan of Best Stop’s boudin balls and cracklins, I’ve never been a fan of their regular link boudin. Something always seemed off. (Side Note: I’ll agree that still Best Stop’s link boudin is better that 95% of the nation-wide competition, but comparatively speaking in Acadiana.)

In fact, when it comes to just regular link boudin at that specific Mile Marker 97 Exit, Best Stop would be last on my list, behind Kartchner’s, Billy’s, Nunu’s and Don’s.

I won't. There are too many other quality boudins out there.

Less than a pound for $7 and not fresh. Yeah... I've passed so far.

Maybe when summer comes and grilling poolside I'll give it a go.
