Buying a Toyota Highlander

Can anyone tell if there is any wiggle room on the prices for an AWD 2021 Toyota Highlander right now? I've gotten two responses online with practically zero negotiation.

Sounds like you got your answer

Fwd they would move (as they have inventory), but awd is a rare find thus does not make dealers ‘panic’ to move. What area/locations are you looking at?

Show up in person with cash

Majority of families are $2800+ richer, I would imagine dealerships have been getting more traction these past few weeks. Wait a month or so if you can before making your purchase.

The dealership is getting their money in full whether you pay up front or through a loan, so it doesn't matter

I still don't understand why people still think this matters.

Im looking in Baton Rouge currently. And I guess I didn't think about the AWD in terms of volume on the lot.

So the F&I department doesn't get a piece of the action as well?

What trim are you looking at?
You could always find it cheaper online elsewhere and give them a chance to match price.
I found this Highlander L v6 for $34k but it’s over 400 miles away from BR. LINK

It matters if you want the best deal...just don't let them know you're paying in cash until you've negotiated a final price.

I just bought a 21 XLE model
I got out of there at $38,000
Decent deal considering they don’t have to negotiate on a brand new vehicle

Last 2 cars I bought I bought online after test driving locally. Go look at dealer inventory for every Toyota dealership in Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas and wherever else you want. If they have a vehicle in stock you want, ask for an online price through their internet sales rep. As I said, I did this with my last 2 vehicles. Ended buy one out of Dallas and the other out of San Antonio. Got a substantially better price that I could get anywhere in Louisiana. Closed the whole deal over phone and fed ex and paid an extra $500-700 to have the car shipped here (the savings more than made up for this). Easiest 2 cars I ever bought. Never had to negotiate or haggle with anyone other than by email (give them 1 digit off on the phone number so they can only contact you by email). They never had my phone number until I had a final price and was ready to buy. YMMV

I live in Tennessee. I've bought my wife's last 2 vehicles from Sewell in Dallas

Bigger dealerships with a lot more inventory. I think they can work the margins much better than dealerships in much smaller localities.

Yep. I had compared Sewell Lexus with Memphis, Birmingham, Nashville, and Little Rock; they each had 3-5 of what we were looking for, Sewell had 32
