re: So was Tigerdroppings wrong about the NFL dying due to their personal, righteous boycotts?

Glad to see the hard work of the Brown family finally pay off for the Bengals franchise.

Salary cap was dropped over 8 percent this year due to decreased revenue. For the first time ever. /thread.

This is really what you’re hanging your hat on?

Players make 8 percent less this year than last. It’s the first time the cap has dropped and its because of a loss of revenue. What else would I need to hang my hat on? Math may not be your forte.

It’s a reaction to COVID my dude the cap will shoot up to near 250 mil once this TV deal kicks in. You know that right?

Ratings were down bigly in 2020. Are you saying people being forced to stay home watched less football because of COVID?

you bury your head in the sand since last march?

Perhaps. I just looked at the numbers. Ratings were way down and now the cap cut. People stuck at home watch less football apparently.

I’m saying the league lost a lot of revenue not being able to have fans and do their normal course of business due to COVID, which is why the revenue and cap went down
I’m also saying that celebrating an 8 percent dip in revenue is hilariously short sighted when it’s going to jump by nearly 40 percent within a couple years because of these massive TV deals

What does not having fans in stadiums have to do with ratings?

I didn’t celebrate anything. I pointed out the cap was decreased for the first time ever. That isn’t a controversial statement unless you hate math.

Ratings are down in every major sport, so apparently they’re not.

Nobody goes to the games anymore. It’s a dying league!

Since when are we exclusively talking about ratings? We’re talking revenue, which is the first thing you brought up in this thread
Look at your first post in this thread

Now you wanna ask who said anything about fans in the stands? (Ie REVENUE)

Seems pretty clear what you were implying, that these TV deals mean nothing bc the cap went down post covid. But crawfish all you want

I actually think a lot of people realized how little sports actually mean in real life over the last year. When the pandering athletes came back telling most of their fan base how much they hate them because of their skin color, it was easy for a lot of people to not turn the TV back on.
We'll see if that trend holds up.

Just think how much more money they could have made if they didn't piss off large portions of fan bases.
i totally changed the way i watch the nfl after the No Call in the NFC championship Rams-Saints.
Granted i know that there were things that the Saints could have done before that to prevent that circus ending.
I know this.
But that No call was one of the biggest egg in the face moments for the league ever.
I think the Rams had more penalties called on them than the Saints did that game.
if it has to come down to a call for why you lost then it means you sure could have done more.
That doesn't change what happened on that play though. They got it wrong and even Lord frick Wad admitted it.

Umm. Since the post of mine you replied to said this:

Zero crawfishing on my part. The first word in my post that YOU responded to was “ratings”. Perhaps reading comprehension isn’t your forte.
Tv plans are huge for the NFL. They are graduated so the cap will increase gradually each year. I will continue to watch the 9ers and enjoy the NFL. It’s so strange the emotional reaction posting facts and numbers can evoke.

The first post of yours, which I replied to in this same exchange, was talking about revenue and the cap. Which is not tied to ratings in any way but is tied to the money they make off of things like fans in the stands
But sure I’m the one who cant read

The vast majority of that was due to the pandemic and not being able to get fans in seats, thus the loss in revenue and the drop in the cap.
But don't let facts get in your way there, buddy.

I posted a factual statistical figure and you accuse me of not considering facts? This is a bizarre reaction. A good case study to be had here with some of you over emotional posters.
