Personally I don't mind when people volunteer to spend their own money on things like that. It's when they presume to volunteer mine the problems begin

Who does? Your little straw man you just made up?

Well, it’s exactly what it is. What the frick is 5% of sloppy Jeff’s royalties going to do for dead black people who got fricked over by record executives? Not a damn thing. It’s the very definition of virtue signaling. Designed to be eaten up by limp dick sheeple so Jeff can sit back and say “look what I did guys! I’m not one of “them”!” It’s a joke

Oh bullshite. Most sane people with a modicum of common sense know that keeping the reparations narrative alive is simply a slow-walk toward the ultimate goal. Some staggeringly stupid number most people put in the $10-17 trillion range. Which would almost assuredly ignite civil war

Perhaps a visit to the I Grow Chicago website to read what they actually do would do you some good. Here's a link...
I Grow Chiago
Chicago is a constant punching bag for their violence and the perception that nobody there is doing anything about it. Here's a music artist donating some of his royalties to a group actually doing something to better the Chicago community, but since he used the word "reparations" he gets shite on.

Royalties. There are generations of black families that have lost out on significant amounts of money because a family member in the past was taken advantage of at one time or another.
Imagine if one of your grandparents wrote a bunch of songs that Elvis made popular, but because they didn't know any better at the time, since they likely got shitty educations(or in some cases weren't even allowed to go to college because of the color of their skin), and they were never fully compensated for those songs. Yet, some white record company exec continues to get royalties on those songs because his grandfather took advantage of your grandfather at the time.
It's a dark side of the history of this country in that very often, rich white men took advantage of black people to further themselves and their wealth. And there are generational wealth gaps in black America that exist because of that.
History.com article on black musicians being taken advantage of.

Another article about this with quotes on why Tweedy decided to do this as well as some contextual quotes from people like Little Richard and how he got fricked over.

Oh fricking boo hoo. How many generations are we allowed to revisit to determine if my ancestors were wronged and im owed some money
How many black label heads and agents continued all the scummy contracts from the motown era till now? Does it only matter when whitey ran the label?
Let's do boxing next. I can't wait till Don Kings great great grandkids are asked to pay all the great great grandkids of the countless boxers he drove into bankruptcy while they got punched stupid
The world is full of lions and sheep. More than likely my ancestors were sheep at some point. 100yrs ago blacks were an easy target. And for how long now have illegal mexicans been slaveing on farms in some parts of the country for 14hrs a day at $2/hr. When do we start hearing about how they "built this country" and are due some equity? Alot of these people outraged about injustice sure don't seem to give a shite that their $300 Nikes were made by a 12yr old making 50cent a day
The world evolves. Focus on something constructive

Well said
White/Jewish record execs took advantage of everyone.
White, black, Hispanic.... All of them.

Nothing is stopping you from doing research on your ancestors to determine if they were wronged, and if they were, advocating for them to bring awareness to that.

Because they're intended as personal attacks.
If leftists could view the world and their causes as between them (leftists) and the purportedly aggrieved people they want to help - things would be much healthier in this country.
Show me one of these articles involving an artist or celebrity going "look opinions vary and it's not my job to say that all white people have to pay black people for things that happened in the past, but I feel that obligation so I'm going to do so."
Of course, this isn't how it works. The worldview of people like Tweedy involves causes that are centered around how to take things that belong to me/my family/others.

Which is why he's giving 5% of HIS money to a Chicago non-profit that strives to better the South Chicago community.

If it's from Chicago and claims to be "non profit", you know damn well someone is profiting off of it.
Hey, congrats Jeff. You're a f$#&ng idiot.

And you came to this conclusion by seeing one artist voluntarily donate a portion of his (and only his) money and not demand that anyone else do the same?
Two plus two equals what now?

How is his post “whining”? He basically said this isn’t a big deal that is being blown out of proportion by other posters in this thread (probably including you and your civil war talk). That’s whining? If so, what is that five paragraph screed you posted earlier.
